Breaking: we have cap space after settling grievances

Tuggie's image is never going to be clean again. He's always going to be the billionaire who was so hard up that he paid old oriental women to jack him off.

I've had my issues with Kraft, mostly for siding with his fellow owners during the "cheating scandals" rather that fighting for his team/QB/coach.

Having said that....grow the f*ck up. There are many worse crimes than a 70+ year-old widower engaging in a mutual sexual act for money with a middle-aged woman, who reportedly owned the business and exercised her free will. Most of the (non-Slater) players around the league probably think more of him after what happened, not less.

Kraft perhaps has done things in the past that would make me say "This is a bad guy." but this scandal doesn't reach that level for me. He f*cked up but who exactly was harmed (the act itself, not the aftermath)? It is very possible he went there in part because they wouldn't know that he is a famous Billionaire, wouldn't try to blackmail him and wouldn't want anything more from him after he walked out the door. It was a business transaction. He, or his friend, just picked the wrong happy ending massage parlor.

Billionaires get lonely, and horny, too. The fact that those FL dotards are still pushing to prosecute him despite the fact that their local keystone cops totally botched the sting is absurd. The public humiliation that Kraft has endured is a more than adequate penalty.

He showed up with a coupon too.

Great analogy in the comments section at the end of this article.

"Clowney is the defensive equivalent of Andrew Luck" Spot on the money. I want no part of him even at his bargain price of 50% off or 10 million per.

For Seahawks, lack of pass rush, Clowney are biggest disappointments of 2019

Jadeveon Clowney Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Khalil Mack Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Clowney
75 games -1 INT - 3 passes defensed 8 Forced Fumbles - 32 sacks - 236 combo tackles - 172 solo - 64 assists - 71 tackles for loss -80 QB hits

Mack
94 games -2 INTS- 19 passes defensed - 20 Forced fumbles -61.5 sacks - 398 combo tackles -308 solo-90 assists- 86 tackles for loss - 116 QB hits

Same draft.

One player is a difference maker and one player meh wannabe. Chicago had the 8th ranked defense last season with Mick Tribisky at the LOS. His days are numbered. Seattle had the 18th ranked defense in 2019 with HOF QB Russ Wilson. Russ and his team made the post season in 2019 and are 2020 Super Bowl contenders.
I don’t understand the Luck reference, but his style of play is comparable to Trey Flowers who are just a nuisance and are complimentary rushers at best. Both are poster children for almost getting to the QB AKA “pressure stat” which has been a thing apparently but is overrated. It was a stat used to defend players/teams who are lacking in the sack department. It really became en vogue on here when BB defended his D to the media in 2018 when they looked allergic to QB’s.

Dude couldn’t even reach 10 sacks with JJ Watt on the other side and he thinks he’s elite.

And Clowney has got to be the dumbest man in the NFL. Turns down an $18M contract by the Browns and a $17M from someone else.

Is there an article or clear explanation somewhere about how our cap situation played out with AHern, such that even 3 years after his death there are still repurcussions? I certainly believe you are right I'm just confused.

I googled it but didn't find anything very good. I found this article from 2015 that seemed good, but it made it sound like the Pats would be ok after 2016:
https://www.americaninno.com/boston/aaron-hernandezs-dead-money-total-on-patriots-salary-cap-space/

I don't have a total timeline but in a nutshell the NFLPA filed a grievance on his behalf when the Pats tried to get out of some of the installments / tried to recoup parts of his signing bonus. Most assumed that nothing already paid out would be recoverable between what he and his family spent before he got arrested and then the following legal costs.

According to spotrac his final signing bonus proration (of 2.5m) was in the 2016/2017 season. They either got some of that early signing money back or won the grievance and got whatever was still locked up in the process back.

Either way now they are finally done with him.

You are right that there is nothing wrong with Kraft getting a * or whatever.

That being said I still think he is a dumbass and deserves the humiliation. As a wealthy person how do you not have an escort -- or whatever you are into -- brought to you discreetly into a nice hotel but instead end up in some trashy nail salon ? Protect your damn reputation and spend some extra dollars.

If you are looking at "yards/target" as a way to judge a player, you really shouldn't be judging players.

When a WR has a yards/tgt of 5.5 he is garbage. You absolutely need no other stat to evaluate them, as he is that much of a outlier.

Yards/tgt is basically the WR equivalent of yards/attempt for QBs.

Any starting QB who averaged 5.5 yards per attempt would be laughed off the field.

Maybe Bill thinks that Snacks can still play, even if the player himself wasn't sure after last season. He once was an immovable force in the middle of the DL. If Bill is down, so am I.
