Why? Guy never misses a pass and most were for TDs. Tape shows it. He's perfect.Bottom line avp and co have some work to do with footwork, elongated throwing motion, and hitch in the shoulder.
Crazy thing is if the mechanics improve his arm strength should be even better.
Now the concern is the elongated throwing motion with this abs habit leads to hits strips and sacks.
Nope, his cannon blows people away but everything else he does is below average. Is there any thought at all, anywhere, that Joe Milton could make a run at the job?
I honestly cannot figure out why they drafted Milton. Focus on getting Maye ready. Don't add a full rebuild of Milton on top.Nope, his cannon blows people away but everything else he does is below average.
His PFF rating from a clean pocket was in the 13th percentile of all FBS QB's so 83% of COLLEGE QB's were more accurate from a clean pocket than Milton. Maye was 89%, Williams 90% and were top 2 among the drafted QB's.
PFF analyzed a bunch of data including that one which they show historically are the most important and used that to come up with a Wins Above Average number based on those most important metrics.
Milton averaged a WAA of .17 the last 2 years.
Maye was 1.275 (led all 2024 NFL QB prospects in 2-year average WAA)
Milton is 2.5 years older than Maye and needs way more time to develop.
In 3 years, when Maye has played enough to determine if he is the guy, Milton will be 27.5 years old.
I'll I've heard all offseason is McAdoo is a QB whisperer and AVP is a footwork guru.I honestly cannot figure out why they drafted Milton. Focus on getting Maye ready. Don't add a full rebuild of Milton on top.
Yeah, the odds that a 6th round pick making a real contribution are slim. Why not play a lotto ticket if they see something?I'll I've heard all offseason is McAdoo is a QB whisperer and AVP is a footwork guru.
If both are true, drafting Milton as a lotto ticket makes sense. Worst case he doesn't make the team. Best case he wins QB2 next year, anything beyond that would be jackpot.
Such is the life of a mid 6th round pick.
Let's not ignore this highly recruited, big time college QB has been exposed to advanced coaching, gurus, elite football camp individual attention, etc....for years...... and yet, he's mechanics are a still messed up.Bottom line avp and co have some work to do with footwork, elongated throwing motion, and hitch in the shoulder.
I'm on board. Is there any thought at all, anywhere, that Joe Milton could make a run at the job?
Tom Curran offers glowing first impression of 'indescribably strong' Patriots rookie QB
“He’s got an absolute frickin’ cannon,” NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran said about the Patriots' sixth-round pick, Joe Milton III.www.boston.com
I will continue to bang this drum, but Dylan Laube was right there.I honestly cannot figure out why they drafted Milton. Focus on getting Maye ready. Don't add a full rebuild of Milton on top.
Supposedly he was ok during warm ups but was erratic during the 7 on 7s. Have to reserve judgment until camp, I guess but I’d be surprised if he elevated unless Maye ends up really struggling. Is there any thought at all, anywhere, that Joe Milton could make a run at the job?

Bledsoe isn’t the only one. He’s been highly touted by everyone who has worked with him. People are like, “Yeah, but then why was he fired?” He really wasn’t. He was just collateral damage after ownership in Cleveland cleaned house. So we’ll see.Fingers crossed AVP is the guy
Bledsoe endorsed him (which should cause us all night terrors)
I can't remember, but I thought the question mark on AVP was he didn't call the plays in Leaveland.Bledsoe isn’t the only one. He’s been highly touted by everyone who has worked with him. He didn’t, save for one game. But having played the position in the NFL, he has that edge that other OCs don’t always have. And I think the belief by many was that he could definitely handle it.I can't remember, but I thought the question mark on AVP was he didn't call the plays in Leaveland.
They're already working on his footwork on shotgun snaps. I imagine they have other things they're working on, too.Just a question? He was the 3rd overall pick. What exactly do the football people feel they have to fix on him of real significance?
Any offensive coach that can coach up 5 different QBs in a season thus that team still making the playoffs I'd say is a dam good offensive mind IMO.I can't remember, but I thought the question mark on AVP was he didn't call the plays in Leaveland.
