Brady vs Manning Debate to end this year?

Then I guess your win over us on Nov 4th was not a big deal considering we had several injured players out and might have beaten you if healthy. We lost a few players at halftime as well.

Pats fans can use excuses but Colts fans can't.

I guess your win was a fluke too.

And if you lose in the playoffs this year it could be a fluke as well.

There are no excuses really. You have to win with no matter who is playing the game.

Really? When the Pats beat the Colts in the playoffs in '03 & '04, all I seem to remember is how the Pats cheated because they were "man-handling" Marvelous Marvin and the rest of the Colt's receivers too much at the line of scrimmage and after this year's regular season game, the excuse was, "you guys had too many injuries, wait till the playoffs." I can hardly wait!

If we was to decide based on whats happened up to now, then no question its Brady, I know that and most Colts fans know that to, sic

I don't agree with that at all, I don't think most Colts fans know that or even think that. I know you're offering an olive branch, but I don't agree that "no question" is better or even closely better.

You are right its subjective, but I wouldn't lump that particular opinion to "most" Colts fans, quite the opposite.

The debate is over and has been for a while. Manning, even in the playoffs last year, was weak. He still does not bring it consistently to the 'big' games.

Brady has proven to do more with less and more with more!

Manning has fallen out as media darling. Sure he is great in his own right, but now it is universally known that Brady is 1A and Manning is 1B.

Manning = great passer, not great in the clutch, throws teammates under the bus, 1 championship, most TD etc...
Brady = great QB, great in the clutch, great leader, 3 Championships, 21 game winning streak and ...counting...

Great in the clutch?

1) AFC Championship Game last year - game ending pick to Marlin Jackson.
2) Regular season game vs. the Colts last year - hits Cato June for the win.
3) SD Chargers last year - throws game ending interception right into Marlon McRee's bread basket. Troy Brown saves Brady from looking dumb - stripping the ball; getting it back.
4) Regular season vs. the Jets last year - fumbled away the game trying to get into FG range.
5) Denver in the playoffs back in 2005 - 99 yard interception to Champ Bailey
6) Dolphins in 2004 - throws the game ending pick in between two Dolphins; Phins' kneel it out for the win.
7) The Tuck Rule - back in 2001- most obvious fumble in NFL history. Game over right there, Patriots don't win the Super Bowl.
8) Baltimore this year - runs right into two LBs on a QB Sneak - ending the Patriots undefeated season, but Rex Ryans feels the need to call a timeout. Also throws to triple coverage to Watson, holding was called. Wouldn't have affected the play anyways because there was three guys there.

I mean he is just so great in the clutch, yet you the only clutch mistake you can probably recall Manning screwing up was this years Patriots-Colts game and back in 2003 where he turned it over on downs because you molested our receivers on all four passes that drive, as shown by NFL Network every summer.

You created a screen name for this? And by the looks of that name, you cannot be more than 14 years old. You found 8 errors in over 100 games, congrats to you. I'd have carpal tunnell listing Peyton's screw ups over the years, particularly in the playoffs. Ty Law says hello.

Correct I did. Based on the fact that you have nothing else to comment on besides my name, I think you are the one that is 14 years old. Quit acting like you know me, you are making assumptions and making yourself look stupid.

Peyton threw a pick to Ty Law in the clutch? Clearly, you don't know what clutch means. It means giving away the game at a crucial point in the game. But you will ignore these statements and continue to squirt out statements on how Manning chokes in the clutch, but you probably can't name more then one.

Where was Ty Law last year in the clutch against Peyton when Peyton went 9/9 for 65 yards and a TD putting the game away? Manning threw two to Ty Law early on, but when Manning had to make a play, he did. Sort of like what Brady did on a consistent basis, until he ended his teams seasons the last two years by throwing interceptions.

So in the 120 regular/playoff games he's played you've found 8 examples of him not getting it done (and in 3 of those 8 the Patriots won thanks in part to what TB did after that play). OMG he's a choker!

I'm not going to rehash what has already been stated 15 times throughout this thread to an asstrout like you. You log on and create a name where apparently caps lock got stuck a few times and look like and idiot. It's been rehashed in this thread and others several times. When the spotlight comes on, Manning shrinks.

I don't debate whether he is a great QB, he is. Brady isn't the one that spent his entire career being a loser (starting in college). There was never a monkey he needed off his back. Has a thrown up a couple of stinkers, but it doesn't come close to what Manning has done.

Read through the thread (you can do that, right?) and when you can admit that Manning has been great, but also a phenomenal choke artist at times, you can come back to the grown ups table.

Hey indy685--see what I mean? We get a new idiot like this every week or so.

*Typical and fairly classic pats victory as described [post=706432]herein.[/post]

Congrats to the pats. Nice work. In my mind there's no question that the 07 team is a damn fine team. The rest of the teams in the NFL best be recognizing PDQ.

*EDIT: Also [post=662164]here[/post].

With the colts out of the way and an injured chargers team and a weak NFC showing it looks like tom brady will lead the patriots to another superbowl win.

there was never a real brady peyton debate

brady's always been the more clutch of the two

his playoff stats are so far superior

The game against the Ravens, 8 players in coverage and he still finds the open WR.

What happen to peyton when up against the chargers?

The concensus across the country now is that Brady is the better QB. Manning just hasn't come through enough in the big games and those count more than stats. Which Brady now owns several of!

Except in last year's game against the Bolts! Brady played horribly and was lucky to win. He did come through in that last drive. I think that saved him from people criticizing his play more than they did.

From a Patriots fan's perspective, I'm hoping for a much more solid game from Tom Terrific.

You won't get any argument out of me on this anymore, I thought Manning played a good game against the Chargers but when we needed him to come through in the clutch we my as well just put in Sorgi..

Both Brady & Manning have enough time left in their careers to improve or hurt their place in history. I doubt you're giving up on Peyton because he is one of the greatest and there still isn't much that separates their legacies to date. I know Manning is great...otherwise he wouldn't piss me off so much when we play the Colts. I think what happened vs. the Bolts has actually softened me a bit toward Peyton. That pass to Clark was so close!

I will never give up on Manning, I went back and watched some of the 4th qtr and on the previous drive when it was 3rd and goal and 4th and goal, clark was wide open both times but Manning instead dumped it off to Addai instead. I didn't realize it until somebody on Indystar posted a thread about it. Oh well nothing that can be done about it now. Damn its a long offseason, the last offseason wasn't so bad, but this year just leaves a bad taste in my mouth..

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Brady and Manning started in the same year this would be a silly debate. Peyton has the career stats simply because he has been playing longer than Tom. And I don't think Peyton will ever play consistently well in the playoffs and lead Indy to a SB.

The debate will end this year.

Some things are certainly sealed thus far:

a. With a 'defense like Brady had', Peyton was one & done this year.

b. With 'weapons like Manning has', Brady is 17-0, helped set individual & team scoring records in nearly every offensive category imaginable, and is still bangin Gisele.

The obvious ones are still prevalent:
1. Brady got it done with less, Peyton usually came up short with more.

2. The tuck rule was actually a correct interpretation of an unpopular rule, but Manning's gifts in the 05 playoffs, 06 playoffs, and 07 regular season & playoffs defy logic as well as everyone except Polian's version of the NFL rulebook.

3. Manning's still a poor teammate who throws his guys under the bus, and is only now starting to take a cue from guys like Tom in those matters. Brady's always been one to go to bat for whomever steps on the field with him, 3rd stringer or not.

4. Head to head is still in favor of Brady.

Manning has had a relatively easy go of it, considering his offenses have rarely had to endure major injuries or FA losses of his staple guys, until Edge.
As a Gator fan, I've known Manning to be a choker in his younger days, and nothing seems to be changing in the NFL. It took a perfect storm for the AFCCG to happen, not to mention the typical zebra help, so for now he's sidestepped that moniker.
