I know its kind of weird that all caps mean your angry. I don't take it that personal, I just want to make sure that KD05 gets the messege.

YOU MUST BE AN UNDERACHIEVER? LIKED TO BE TOLD WHAT TO DO? FOLLOW THE LINE? DRINK THE KOOL-AID? HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED COMPETITIVE SPORTS? BRADY LOST HIS BEST RECIEVERS AND YOUR JUST SUPPOSED TO MOVE ON? SORRY, DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT! DO YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST CUT IN PASTE IN SPORTS? SOMTIMES LEADERS OF THE TEAM HAVE TO LIGHT A FIRE NOT ONLY UNDER TEAMMATES BUT MANAGEMENT AS WELL TO MAKE THE TEAM BETTER. WATCH BRADY STRUGGLE ALL YEAR AND FINALLY YOU DUMBASS NAIVE PATS FANS WILL GET.

This is what happens when you spend too much time in the stacks.

Mike Reiss doesn't think it is a big deal.

Any idea what vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli and Tom Brady talked about after Sunday night's game? I'm assuming it wasn't a discussion of what to serve on the postgame buffet.
John Keller, New York, NY

A: I'm sure they spoke about the game. Pioli and Brady talk after every game. I don't see that as a big deal. I think the only difference is that it happened while reporters were in the locker room, leaving some the chance to read deeply into what it meant.

You couldn't say it any better! How can anybody complain about the way Brady is playing? You take away his 2 best weapons and you expect miracles. You do absolutely nothing to replace them and sit on all of this money. It's crazy! I would be pissed of too if I was Brady. BB and SP suck! And this dynasty is slowly crumbling right before our eyes. It one thing to let players go for more money once they have reached their peak. It's another thing to let your best YOUNG talent go for nothing!

It didn't go for nothing. They got a #1 pick out of it. But I'd agree it would be better to have Deion right now. Though I'm not sure Deion could beat Champ Bailey and that Broncos D.

Why is Scott Pioli holding this meeting instead of Bill Belichick?

Shouldn't this be the head coach's responsibilty if they have any

problems with Tom Brady's performance.

Don't want to read too much into this, but Pioli's the personnel guy...if they had a meeting it was likely about personnel I would think

And it wouldn't surprise me if Tom felt he could use some more personnel support, or was offering frank assessments of the personnel on the field.

Again, don't want to read too much into this. Maybe Pioli is working on something and requested Brady's closed door input, rather than Brady requesting a meeting with Pioli

If I were that frustrated and had told the team, and still no changes, I would call them out to the media. Sorry Patriots management has lost their ******* mind in terms of player personal.
Oh yeah, having Jeremy Shockey "calling out to the media" in NY is really having a positive effect for the Giants. Always a sign of a true professional.

Anyone who has ever coached at any level and any sport will attest to different assumed character of star players.

A lesser player on a team needs to be talked to after a game and people say well, he's learning. A star player on a team needs a talk after a game and people assume that player...a star...should know better.

Tom Brady is a kid to Belichick and he's a kid to Pioli. His talents make him no less vunerable to human emotion as Eugene Wilson, Reche caldwell or larry Izzo.

That people analyze why Pioli is talking to Brady after a game is crazy. Brady's as human as any of us. His steely composure under pressure does not mean he has steely composure in a locker room after a game.

Whatever emotions Brady is going through or not going through will make him stronger in the future...his character works that way. Unless he is physically injured...and I think he is (frayed rotator cuff my guess) ... a talk between Pioli and Brady I am confident is no more or no less than support btween friends and partners...if it was not there...then we have a problem. If Brady goes in a cocoon, we have a problem...such is not the case.

If I were Tom Brady in that situation, I would DEMAND that at least one of two first round draft picks in the 2007 NFL draft be expended on a quality collegiate wide receiver.

Paul Williams from Fresno State could be a strong possibility:

Name: Paul Williams
College: Fresno State Number: 1
Height: 6-2 Weight: 205
Position: WR Pos2:
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2007
40 Time: 4.45 40 Low: 4.41 40 High: 4.52
Projected Round: 1-2 Stock:
Rated number 3 out of 278 WR's 30 / 2231 TOTAL

Extremely talented player who had a huge spring and should factor immensely into the Bulldogs' offensive scheme this year ... Pat Hill termed Williams' spring as "one of the best I've seen since I've been here" ... Williams' talents have been described as "freakish" by Hill ... has been primarily a strong performer on special teams thus far in his career ... owns exceptional speed despite his large size (6-2, 200) ... the type of receiver who can go up and get "jump ball"-type passes deep in the corners of the end zone.

As great as brady is ..no one demands against BB..he will always do what he thinks best...just when everyone will think he will draft a receiver to replace branch. he will draft a DL or a safety or a tight end....brady can keep demanding..wont work ..
BB always has a plan..it misfired with branch else they wouldve kept givens...iam sure he will learn from it but wont just give into demand's and such...

Sorry but in this situation Tom Brady has been handcuffed and the list of 2007 NFL free agent wide receivers is weak.

WRONG! Richard Seymour demanded more money and won.

It is not the same thing. One of the best defensive linemen in the league playing under his rookie contract who calls for a by no means bank busting raise is different from a player telling the organization who to draft.

Not who to draft but what to draft and which round. Brady and Seymour have earned their clout with the New England Patriots organization.

The big difference here is that Brady and Sey are people that the pats "braintrust" don't think we can replace and stay at or close to the same level at that position. They are worth the extra $$$$ (and both could have gotten more on the open market) Branch (or givens) wasn't worth that kind of risk given that the "braintrust" thought they could probably come close to filling his shoes. I have no doubt that the Sey incident last year had a hand in the Branch holdout (in fact Sey could have been telling him to holdout and mabey that's why he was so distraught after he was traded--besides being friends) but Branch (and his agent) needed to realize that the pats "braintrust" didn't value branch in the same league as TB and Sey.....Branch and Givens got more money than they were worth. I think the pats did the right things, i just wish they would have wrapped it up earler and been more aggressive before camp started. Once he got his feet dug in, it was bound to get ugly!

Josh McDaniels will get eaten alive by experienced DC's all season long, especially since Josh refuses to make early admjustments, sometimes as early as the first or second series of offensive downs. Throw away the damned scripted plays and use some common sense for a change.

So we've got a thread about Brady and Pioli meeting after the Denver game. Reiss, who is arguably the most consistent source of quality information on the team lets us know that they meet after every game and it's not a big deal. Then we have NEM turning the thread into his "It's the OC's fault" because he's not getting his enough attention in the thread he started.

Sounds like the Sun is still rising in the East and water is still wet. Can we take our fingers off the panic button now and chalk this up to an adjustment period while the new receivers get settled? There aren't any quality receivers out there that we wouldn't have to overpay dramatically for and any of them would have an adjustment period as well.

There are no quick fixes here. No one likes to watch their team lose, especially to a team that ended our playoff run last year, but lets sack it up as fans and support our team through this tough time. Christ we're sounding like Indy or Yankee fans with this sense of entitled winning.

The FO has done as good as job as any in the league and for you people crying about them sitting on the Cap money, do you really think that's their intention? Do you think Bob and Jonathon are really sweating their cut of that 10M rolling their fingers together like Burns? Gimme a break.

Lets take a collective deep breath, say "It Fing sucks to lose" but we're going in the right direction. It's not like the offense put up mad #'s last year especially in the 1st couple of games. Again let's take our collective fingers off the panic button...

You may not have made many posts here, but you certainly catch on quickly.

Like I keep saying put yourself in Toms shoes..........they guy takes WAY freakin less on his contract. The front office sticks it up Toms you know what and fail to resign NOT ONE but BOTH his starting WR's then sit on their hands and 10-13 million in cap space. The guy is in a war going against Abraham tanks and they have given Brady rpg's to go into battle with.

exactly my point from a previous post....smarten the hell up front office....Tom is a great QB, don't disrespect what he had brought to this organization...

Lucky for us you're not Brady.

We've won 3 Bowls. Who's the highest WR we've picked?

Chad Jackson. He's on the team. Relax.

The two future HOFers we lost were drafted #65 and #253, respectively.

Isn't it great to be on a message board where you can demand things in somebody else's name just because you have a capslock?

The "take away" portion is completely inaccurate. David Givens was given a lot more money than NE was going to pay. Plus, most people seem to forget this now, but NE badly wanted to extend Branch and they knew that signing Givens to a contract any larger than their final offer would be tantamount to waving goodbye to Deion.

The whole Deion thing was done as soon as NE's inital offer did not rip up the final year of his rookie deal. It is clear to me that Deion and Chayut were quietly stewing over that 5th year since he originally signed it. Ask yourself two questions:

1) Was their offer fair?
2) What did Deion do to show that he wanted to stay? or said another way How did Deion's camp facilitate the negotiations?

Yes, NE could have resignd either guy earlier, but you seem to also forget two more things:

1) NE had very little cap room in 2004 and 2005 to do an extension
2) Deion did not play a single fully healthy season prior to 2005.

Did NE make a mistake in not offering Branch a contract that redid 2006? I think so. But this whole "they took away his top two WRs" crap has to stop. It completely ignores the reasoning behind it.
