Brady and Mac predictions for Sunday night

No matter what happens on Sunday - there's no doubt about it now. Pats made the right call having Mac play this game and showing Cam the door. That's the right call 10 times out of 10.

Mac watching Cam have one of his patented 70 yards passing 4 INTs and 5 sacks in this game would be a colossal waste of time. It would do nothing for his development as a rookie. Now he will get first hand experience of what it's like to face an elite pass rush in the big leagues and that's great for him. Protect him and let him understand what he's seeing and learn how to adapt. He's a cerebral kid and I have no doubt if they give him that chance he will do that. If he does well...look out.

Below is Stafford's TtT passing splits for the Week 3 game:

* 2.34 = # 3 quickest in NFL (Brady a fraction behind him)

* 22 of his throws were well under 2.5 seconds at 1.64 average TtT.

If Mac can do that, and Agholor can play like DeSean Jackson, Myers like Kupp, and Bourne like Woods; then I agree Pats win comfortably.

The thing that will help Jones get rid of the ball quicker is if the Bucs' CBs continue to cover like they have. They were struggling mightily in coverage last Sunday.

Oh, I don't disagree. Their D is playing like azz. Our O is playing like azz. Their O is playing great. Our D is playing mostly great. On paper, based on your stats it should be a close game.

If I were BA I would run, run, run to attack Pats biggest weakness on D. BA being BA will have Brady pass it 60 times instead.
It's like that old quandry, what happens when a resistible force meets a moveable object.

Okay so my prediction is 300 on the money for Mac, no promises but I'll go wild and go 1 TD through the air. My God, maybe even 2. Brady? Sky's the limit, if he's not sick, our vaunted D aside. New Orleans almost crossed the 30 barrier. Brady's phys. condition makes me think he'll settle for 3 TDs, but if he's well I can also see 5. I think he stays in the 300s in yards, mainly because unless things have changed a lot, it will not be a shootout. 0 Int.s if he's well. 1-4 if he's sick, depending how sick.

It'll be a stat line to squint at, because it'll be a lopsided Bucs win. There just won't be as much reason for fireworks as in a close game, and I think Brady might be able to appreciate coming in here and getting a sparring partner not Mr. T.

Look at how fast Stafford gets rid of the ball. Tryon blows past that tackle. Wynn's going to have a long day (assuming JPP doesn't play).

Rams receivers are extremely fast at getting separation.

If Jones is the shotgun like Stafford is on this play, he can rid of the ball that quickly. Jones is far more comfortable in he shotgun.

Part of the reason for Jones' TtT average is where it is that they have been running a lot of play action. When you run the play action, it adds at least close to a second of time to throw if not more. I am guessing Jones will not be running a lot of play action this weekend. But with the amount of play action they have been running, I bet Jones has a really quick TtT when he is throwing out of the shotgun.

You are showing one play though. Even a mediocre DE can own a LT on any one play.

Brady- 393 yds: 3 TDs- 1 INT

Mac- 274 passing yd- 2 TDs- 2 INT.

Bucs: 35
Pats: 24

I wonder if Brady will like the 3rd down foghorn...

The Bucs pass defense hasn't been really good this year. The Bucs have been pretty bad against the pass this year. They are dead last in passing yard allowed. They are 15th in the league in passing yards allowed per attempt. They are 18th in opposing QB passer rating. They are 29th in opposing QB completion percentage. They are dead last in passing TDs allowed. They are dead last in sacks (they only have three sacks all year for a team that is supposed to be dominant in the front seven).

They will be depleted at CB which has been killing them. JPP was out last week and hasn't been practicing this week.

Based on the play so far this year, the Bucs are going to be the worst pass defense that Jones will have faced this year so far.
Yeah but Mac is going to be the worst QB they faced all year and its not really close. Maybe that is why their passing yards are high too.

I’ve kind of already predicted Brady in a landslide. It’s only logical that he’s gonna crush this team with all his weapons.

However, the Alama-Bunker Hill in me says the Pats fight and claw their way to a close victory.

Brady 350 3tds 1 int.
Mac 275 2td 0 picks.

Pats running game finally gets it done, oline comes together and defensive front gets the interior rush to make Brady uncomfortable.
Perfect scenario, it’s time for BB to step up with a game plan and pull out some kryptonite for the man he coached for 2 decades.
Yeah tampa is beat up in the secondary, but not up front, they are 3rd in allowing rush, not a good time to bring that out.

Decent piece on Mac—Includes a compilation of throws he hasn’t made deeper down the field, and some thoughts on how to improve things

Even with 2 INTs I think that would have to be a step forward for Mac. They're playing a really good defense

I want to see him open it up. He has to. That 5 YPA game isn't gonna cut it in the NFL.
They are 28th in points allowed and 26th in yards allowed. They are dead last in passing yards allowed and 30th in passing tds allowed.

Tampa should have lost to Dallas and lost last week. Their passing defense is bad, the question is can we take advantage of that.

Yes, but the Pats should get Trent Brown back which could do worlds for the offense. Jones has the same average time to throw as Matt Ryan and basically the same as Matthew Stafford and the Bucs couldn't put pressure on them. If he can sit there for 2.72 seconds without pressure, receivers should get open against the Bucs' secondary. I just have a little more hope that the Pats' offense corrects some of their issues than the Bucs' defense fixes theirs.

But I don't know if the Bucs can run the ball effectively. They haven't yet. And I think Belichick would love them to take the ball out of Brady's hands. I think if the Pats give up 120 plus yards on the ground to the Bucs, they have a better chance to win because that probably means Brady isn't carving up the defense and making it a track meet.
I don't know... The whole line has been porous.

Why run when you can pass at will? I remember the Raiders in years past being one of the better pass defense teams on paper but only because they were dead last in rushing yards allowed.
