I thought we were going to let Bourne walk in FA we know BB would have. I won't forget what BB made Fat Patricia do that guy what goes around comes around. Bourne had his best year in 2021 he still have plenty left.
Oh we all remember that ! Patricia called himself trying to run the Shanahan offense.. KB laughed and said that's not the Shanahan offense. KB was our best WR last season .

To be fair I went to a lot of camp practices last season and Bourne’s infectious enthusiasm can be a strength, but also be a hindrance.

He was acting foolish, instigating fights at joint practices and fooling around when he should have been serious. I expect a bounce back year for him.

He was arguably our best WR last season in a terrible offense. He brung it each week. But I can see what you mean by a hindrance..

The team thought enough of Bourne to extend him for 3 years, and to be part of the future, even when knowing they would be bringing in lots of competition for the top receiver positions.

I suspect that the staff considers Bourne to be a major plus as the WR group develops.

The team could have easily focused on the future and not re-signed Bourne, making him part of the replacement of the WR group. They would have expected to bring in at least 3 receivers (as they did) and hope that one of Thornton, Reagor and Boutte could be potential parts of the future.
