Posted this in the transaction thread but wanted to include this here in its own thread for anyone who may not have seen it:

7/23 Transactions (Per the league transaction wire):
RB Antonio Gibson placed on non-football injury list
WR Kendrick Bourne placed on PUP
G Cole Strange placed on PUP
C/G Jake Andrews placed on PUP
LB Sione Takitaki placed on PUP

EDIT: Players above are listed with the "DECLARED PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO PERFORM (All Counts on Active List)" designation by the league.

I get it, but I absolutely hate seeing free agent signings starting out on the PUP.
Sometimes you sign guys with injuries you expect this from and sometimes it backfires like Juju. Hopefully these guys get out there quickly and start competing and are healthier than JuJu.

what is it with free agent running backs and injury lists... never a good sign imo...

understand the strange bourne designations, but whats up with J. Andrews and Takitaki?

How much Games would a Player miss if they Start the Season on PUP?? I think that will be the best scenario for Bourne and Strange. There will be good competition among there respective groups even without them.

I know. What's the deal with these two?
According to Reiss, Takitaki had an offseason procedure, so they're being cautious.

I believe it's also the same for Andrews. I haven't seen what Gibson's deal is.

On Gibson:

On Gibson:

Ian, what if they are on PUP still before the season starts how much weeks would they miss??

There's only one PUP.
No, @mgteich is right, there are two designations: "active" and "reserve". Per the transaction wire, the players listed above are on the "active" list:

Active/PUP list: Players are placed on this list during training camp and count toward a team's 90-man roster. Players can be removed from the list at any time during camp, but can't be placed back on the list. Players on this list as of final roster cutdowns must be placed on the Reserve/PUP, released, traded or counted against the 53-man roster.

Reserve/PUP list: Teams must decide by the 53-man roster cutdown deadline whether to place a player on this list. Players placed on this list at that time must miss at least the team's first four games -- down from six in seasons prior to 2022. Unlike in the past, players can be activated immediately after such time has elapsed. Any player who is designated Reserve/PUP on or after rosters are reduced to 80 will also be subject to the same four-game absence.

Strange69 & DawgHouse are no surprises; the other three, including Two who were signed here as UFAs...?
Yes gibby, wich is a suprise because a few weeks ago during his media interview he said he was ready to go. I hope he will be ok... he will be a big part of what we do offensively..

These guys are cleaning up injuries suffered last season or rehabbing, most will be back soon.

Strange and possibly Bourne will be held out longer, if they’re smart they’ll let Bourne get really strong before they bring him back.

He’s locked up for three years on a team friendly deal and they have a lot of young guys who need an opportunity. Use the PUP to create a roster spot, bring him back at full strength in week 5.

They're the same PUP though. It's just extending your time on the list.

Once training camp begins, and you practice once, you are ineligible for reserve (or any) PUB.

Real you really love Gibby.
