I would dismiss this more if Nix hadn't broken his ankle at all three levels (high school, college, and the pros). This is a red flag. I wonder if there is an inordinate amount of scar tissue in his ankle or the bone is healing improperly.

If all is cool with Rodgers and Mcarthy then there is no need to slap a UFA tender on Rodgers.

Who knows? Maybe it is because they are worried that since he still hasn't made up his mind yet when they expected he would weeks or months ago, they want insurance if he decides to go somewhere else since they put all their eggs in his basket.

The Steelers GM said he thought Rodgers would have made his decision by now. Rodgers could be waiting to see if a legitimate contender doesn't have an injury at QB that would need him to step in (see Denver with Nix requiring more surgery). Rodgers ain't going to the Super Bowl with the Steelers. He might have a shot if Nix goes to IR and he signs on there.
