Bill vs TCU game thread

The answer is no. The gap in college is way too big between schools. In the NFL everyone, even the "bad players" would be 99th percentile guys in college. Also you CONSTANTLY have to recruit. Your seniors leave every year, guys who have a shot at the NFL are likely to declare a year early.

This was actually pretty close to a worst case scenario. UNC was never going to have more eyeballs on it tonight, a primetime game on Labor Day, a stadium filled with stars, all that hype. Every potential five star recruit for next season was checking this out to see if there was anything to the Bill Belichick experiment at UNC. They watched a ****show instead where the team was outplayed in every conceivable way. All those players were skeptical of considering it already, now they are going to forget about it and focus on the big dogs.

I think you’re right, which means Belichick’s legacy is going to take a big hit.

I think it's an epilogue. The final chapter to the book which was great for 80% of it. The ending sucks.

Murray doing a victory lap lol.

For the Team Bill crybabies in the back… THIS is hating. Not anything on this forum. Now stay mad and triggered

BB got punched right in the mouth with the disparity of talent at the college level. It's obvious he's underestimated how hard that is to overcome.
Yeah. That was always going to be the toughest part. The NFL has suce parity. That does not exist in college.

Never thought of that last part but that is so true. One thing to lose but last night was devastating.

If true, it begs the question, "What was he thinking?" Especially already filthy rich at age 73. He might've been better off doing media gigs like last year, or involving himself with some NFL team as an advisor like Tuna did. BB is an NFL guy, college football the way it's set up today is not his element.

Man. This was sad to see waking up. I know I have been labeled as a "Bill hater," but behind UConn, I am now rooting for UNC. This was my biggest concern with Bill coaching in college: the talent disparity is 100x greater in CFB, and identifying talent coming out of college, ie. the draft, was Bill's undoing here.

The cult that calls us “ Bill haters” is very small and completely delusional. I’m not going to dance on Bill’s grave because he was a big part of their 9 AFC Championships, and 6 Lombardi’s, but I’m certain that any criticism will spur the cult of Bill and Bunny to scream, cry, shout, and gesticulate wildly before calling me a hater many times this coming season.

And it’s really hard to X and O your way out of a huge talent gap.

It’s only one game in, but this has Shaq on the Celtics vibes already.

I think the best question being posed is “why?” Stepping stone back to the NFL to overtake Shula is one answer. Boredom/love of the game is another, I suppose.

"We need to play better. We need to coach better."

What an embarrassment. Anyone here who does not reside in North Carolina and suddenly became a UNC fan only because of BB needs to seriously get a life.

The Curse of Bunny has left Foxboro and taken up residency in Chapel Hill.
What's wrong with following a coach or player when they leave NE? Especially after having so much success here. I rooted for Charley Weis and Romeo Crennel after they left. Same with Brady, Gronk and a few others.

Things should never have gotten to the point where so many Pats fans are hoping Bill falls flat on his face.

I wasn't his biggest fan at the end but in a way I feel kind of sad for Bill.

Maybe he decided to take one for the team... the Belichick team.

We saw it routinely down the stretch here when teams we played teams with athletes. I remember that Miami game with Tyreek Hill running crossers and Raheem Mostert consistently getting around the corner. I don't doubt that Bentley, Tavai, etc were doing what they were supposed to be doing but they just weren't athletic enough to get to their spot in time and they looked lost.

If he wasnt whining about owners sons and other excuses for cratering the Patriots since Brady left I’d be cheering for him. Much harder to do that now.

One game against a vastly superior team. TCU is underrated. I'll wait for the season to play out before making any judgements.

There's only so much scheming you can do. When your interior on both defense and offense are getting manhandled like it's JV vs Varsity, technique doesn't matter as much. UNC's skill players also had a hard time separating while TCU's skill players ran around UNC's defenders.

A lot of those missed tackles were simply because TCU's skill players where just plain faster and quicker.

UNC needs to spend a lot of $$$ if they're serious about building a football program. The disparity in talent level was shocking. What the hell were Bill and his staff thinking?
