Bill vs TCU game thread

It's the same kind of vibe I felt after Josh McDaniels left. There was all kinds of discussions here and elsewhere about how in the world would/could Bill replace Josh? Then, when he could wait no more, we got the whole MP, JJ and Sons setup dropped on us. Oh, and no titles for anyone. The idea was IBWT, give it time, it'll all come together. Uhm, nope.

That's when it should be clear that Bill can no longer construct a winning coaching staff at this point. Whatever talent he had left in his coaching tree moved on and he hasn't been able to recruit and/or train people good enough to replace them. What we are left with is cronies and family members.
The guys before were cronies too though. Guys he worked before or out of that John Carroll tree.

If he goes elsewhere and it fails then you guys complain he all the sudden went to far out of the box and say he lost it.

By that logic McDaniels is the best coach in the NFL right now.
oh I already dropped that same comment but didn't stop with McDaniels... Patricia, Crennel, Weiss.... those are the best HCs in the NFL!!

You got a game to win tomorrow who you taking to coach McD or Raheem Morris?
As a head coach for a single game? Probably McDaniels. To build a team and foster a good locker room dynamic for the long term? Morris.

Excellent coaches too.

You just enjoy crapping all over anyone and everyone because you hate Bill. You're so clueless as to what it takes to do what they did. Who knew they didn't need to do any of it and could have just grabbed some Popcorn and watched Tom like the rest of us.

I was basically out on Bill as soon as he named Patricia the OC. Just an unfathomably arrogant "I'm smarter than everyone else" move that derailed any slim chance Mac Jones ever had to develop as a QB. It still amazes me how many people on here vehemently defended that decision.

Bill traded Jimmy on Halloween of 2017. That gave him 2.5 years to formulate a succession plan. He could have taken Lamar Jackson in the draft the year after or found a way to package those two first-round picks for another QB instead of taking a plodding RB with a bad knee and a guard to play tackle.

@SBB: It's time to throw in the towel, you're getting buried.

Please.....Bill admitted he should have considered that but even then Brady would not have responded well to it and who knows how it could have impacted things.

It wasn't his best move but the way Mac responded derailed his own career and any chance Patricia had to work all on his own.

The 4 of them were each excellent coordinators and poor head coaches. It is 2 entirely different skill sets. I know the truth triggers you but you won't find a single football fan anywhere - including this forum - who disagrees with that statement.

According to you and your continued idiocy, they are all the greatest head coaches of all time!!

Putting words in my mouth.

Let's put it this way who do you think was the better coach Scar or Rod Rust?

Two things can be true. It was a horrible decision to make Patrica the OC and Mac was a bad quarterback. I don’t think there was any chance Patrica would succeed at OC. They also drafted guys to run a scheme that Patricia was supposed to implement so we basically wasted an entire draft class on outside zone/Shanahan offensive players only to scrap it a year later and get nothing out of the class other than Marcus Jones.

Excellent stuff. No need for all this pettiness. I didn't suspect this solves everything but good to see they can still put things aside and do what's right. Balls in Bill's court now obviously to accept it but also to stop with the veiled comments. No one gains anything from any of that ditto for Kraft too if he expects Bill to accept then no more hit squad docs.

Please, you're the one who wants to go on past performance and you're suggesting TFB would be rattled if the Pats took Lamar?

We took Jimmy G in 2014 and Tom won the SB in 2014, won the SB in 2016, and was MVP in 2017.

Boy, it'd be terrible if we signed Lamar and Tommy reacted the same way he did to Jimmy G!

The thought was they were implementing those schemes for the benefit of Mac.

And yes I said not Bill's best decision.

So then Bill should have hired Bobby Slowik who understood the offense they were trying to run. Trying to switch offensive schemes with a second year quarterback coached by a defensive coach is mind bogglingly stupid. Kraft is more patient than I am because I would have canned Bill after that season. Bill got a way longer leash than he deserved.

Then if Slowick succeeds he leaves Bill wanted someone else he worked with and trusted more. Wound up being the wrong reasons. but his guys and circle are football guys that have come through for him over and over. Somehow he stayed in his circle and was way outside the box. He made mistakes when he was younger too like trusting someone inside his circle with Fredo.

It must grind your gears that Vrabel hired McDaniels.

And that was a big part of why Bill failed post-Brady. He didn't adapt and he didn't bring in any fresh perspectives or ideas. He relied on the same group of people for 20 years and refused to work with anyone else.
