Bill’s first offer…

I wish Vegas had odds on who will win more games in 2024, Belichick or the Pats?

I plan on getting the NFL ticket next year, even though I have Pats tickets, so I can
Follow Belichicks games, the way we followed Brady in Tampa

I hope Belichick wins another Super Bowl !
Hated him as a GM the last few years, but he will win with his new team

Good luck Bill

My fear is actually the opposite. That bb has spend all these years turning a paupers budget into a kings feast, and if those were Kraft constraints, the next guy will fail miserably.
very valid concern I share the same concern.

I think it’s going to be interesting to see how the patriots operate without him and how his new team operates.
We have always attributed the free agent, cap and spending policies to belichick but we would never have known if it was by choice or due to constraints from ownership.
The cool thing about the split is you get to see bb and Kraft operate without each other and learn how each impacted the other.
We kinda knew after this, though, didn't we?

And then Kraft had a public freakout and made him apologize? Belichick never says anything into a microphone that he doesn't mean to say.

People are making too much stuff about the drafting of Garoppolo because Brady "was going to fall off a cliff" stuff.

Packers did it 2x with Rodgers and Jordan Love, Colts moved on from Manning. It's pretty normal stuff for a 35 yr old + QB.

That doesn't mean the coach wants to get rid of you. It means they want your replacement in place for when you're done.

Which could happen at any point after 35. Heck, Flacco was declared finished 3 years ago, and here he is at age 39 in the playoffs.

The point is, it's normal to make preparations. It doesn't mean the old guy is no longer valuable to a coach like Belichick

Belichick talking about making preparations to replace Brady:

If the dolphins and bulls had fireable coaches, then I could see him stay in division.
McDermott is fireable. Those Bills teams have been wildly inconsistent, especially this year. I know they've had some injuries but even going back to last year, that blowout loss against Cincy at home was bad (Bengals were good, but Bills shouldn't have been blown out). And then you have the 13 second game they lost to KC the year prior. Another disappointing playoff exit could get him canned.

I’ve been seeing speculation that Bill won’t join an AFC team, out of respect for Kraft.
Kraft doesn't deserve any respect. He threw both Brady and Belichick under the bus when the league came after them for bogus "cheating" claims. And if Bill joined an NFC team like the Giants or Eagles (both beat the Patriots in Super Bowls), I'd say that's worse than an AFC team or even AFC East team like the Bills who have been nothing but losers in one-sided "rivalries".

It's oddly reminiscent in the sense that he went against management in the treatment of the QB. He didn't want to continue with Kosar/Mac Jones anymore. This angered ownership.
What about Bledsoe? I can't imagine that the Krafts were happy seeing their $100M favorite sitting on the bench when BB did not give him the job back.

Bill has always loved the Giants organization, so I consider them a dark horse candidate.

It is easy to forget how close he came to coaching the Giants in 1991. After Super Bowl 25, he was hired away from them to be HC of the Cleveland Browns. Just 4 months later, Bill Parcells would suddenly step down for health reasons, and Ray "must go" Handley became HC of the NYG. Ya gotta think that job would have gone to Belichick if it was known Parcells was going to step down.

I believe Belichick in his private moments cursed the bad luck and bad timing of the whole thing.

Moving on from a QB does seem to bug ownership a lot.

On the other hand, Belichick has been held back by QBs 3x in his career, so he knows how it goes better than anyone.

They weren't. But Brady won the Super Bowl, so, that was the end of that. Why do you think they were in such a big hurry to trade him that offseason. There's no real reason he couldn't have stayed on and restructured (And shockingly, the 100 million was bogus money, had he been a backup, he would have been making like 5 a year) for a couple years as a solid backup - especially since Brady did get hurt in the AFCCG.

Right now I would take Belichick simply because he will be taking over a more talented team and not yet had time to drive that talent into the ground.

I can't believe I have to say this yet again, over 20 years later....

There is no way whatsoever Brady and Bledsoe could coexist on the same team after the 2001 season. Being a team player and accepting a demotion after recovering his health for 10 weeks is one thing. Accepting for another full season is something else entirely.

I think this was taken out of context.

I happen to think it was Bill who didn't spend because he wanted to build strong depth through the roster.

You only get into cap trouble if you're overpaying for the top guys.

You stay with the cap and spend up to it when you're not giving good players huge signing bonuses.

True except he hardly accepted his demotion.

Belichick will be a Cowboy by next week.

The girl who cleans my teeth and husband are from New York and are Giants fan, they're all excited that BB is going to the Gints.

For years Bruins fans called Jacobs cheap only to find out after all those years it was Sinden. Now that Neely and Sweeney are in charge, they're spending right to the limit every year. May be the same here. I guess we'll find out.
