BGC 2022 RB/PTP Thread

RB/PTP Thread. Looks like a pretty decent class after a rough look. 3-4 top 40-50 prospects, 3-4 more that'll fall in the top 100.

Spiller & Hall will more than likely go RB 1/2 but you'll have plenty of other options if you'd rather wait. I'd argue (in late June), that we're looking at a pretty deep class.

You have your power guys in Rodriguez, Chris Brown, Brian Robinson, David Bailey, La'Darius Jefferson, Cyrus Habibi-Likio, Tyler Nevens.

Rec backs like Williams, James Cook, Borghi, Rivers, Taua, Dye. I really like Williams. Williams is a small back but has great vision, rec skills and is good in pass pro.

Harris is as solid as they come. Reminds me of our D Harris. Ealy has quicks and power for a smaller back. Shivers plays so hard, he'll be a fan fav of some. He's trucked a few dudes and has started a beef or two lol. Little dude syndrome but he's as tough as ****. Almost started a brawl vs Florida hitting two guys at the same time lol.

Spiller runs very hard, wants to & will finish. Quick feet. Stays square, has good lateral movements. + contact balance & vision. + rec skills, probably a little underutilized there. + pass pro.

Hall has unreal patience, really good contact balance and great vision. Vision & CB are probably the best two attributes you can have as a RB and Hall had them X 5. His patience really allows him to maximize those strengths though imo. He's not just setting up his blockers at the line but anticipating the 2nd & 3rd level. Full field 360 vision & feel. Setting up his blocks but also showing defenders one thing before leaving them behind him. + short area quicks. Great job avoiding the kill shot. Get a little stronger overall and he should have a nice career next level.

Kyren Williams is just a star, period. Incredible football player. I know Jonas Gray left a bad taste in Bill's mouth when it comes to ND players, but this guy is White if White was also an elite runner.

He checks every box except size and his toughness makes up for that. He's smart, dynamic, can lowe his shoulder, incredible balance, pass pro is the best in this class. He can run any route from any alignment. You can kick him out wide from the backfield, let him settle in the slot, start him off the ball and bring him back. Screens, wheels, slants, crosses. Dude can beat a lot of corners deep if you asked him to. Great hands, vision is elite. Breaks ankles routinely, then lines up and pounds the ball on the goal line. Avoids negative plays, almost always makes the first (and second) guy miss. Can also return punts.

This kid is going to be a star in the NFL. I doubt the Patriots take him because there are more pressing needs and I'd be shocked if he's not picked in the top 40.

Agreed, he's perfect for us and underrated. Smaller back but runs even lower, compact but shifty. Vision and contact balance. Can stop / start on a dime. One of the better backs in terms of pass pro. I'd love him here.

The pass pro skills are just off the charts. The only downside is that he can get blasted by bigger rushers, but he's *always* there. He has some kind of innate ability to identify the most imminently dangerous rusher and just get to the spot.

And if a guy isn't 6'6", 280 or something, he's probably gonna stone them. He just lays guys out and he has absolutely no fear whatsoever. I've made it known I'm an ND fan, but that actually makes me even more critical in my evals because I watch every snap of every ND game three or four times because of contributions I make on ND recruiting message boards. I would be saying this even if he played for Michigan (incidentally, Blake Corum from UM is very similar to Williams and is one of my highest rated 2023 RB prospects).

I actually think he could be one of the better slot receivers in the NFL as well, but his real value is at RB because he's also an elite runner in addition to his pass pro and productivity/versatility in the passing game.

It takes a lot for me to absolutely rave about an ND player for a few reasons, but Kyren is special. Up there with Kyle Hamilton, Zach Martin, Golden Tate, Will Fuller and Quenton Nelson for me as far as the best players at ND in the past decade or so.

No he's a pit bull out there and takes no **** lol. I love watching him give defenders little shoves right after he stones someone. So feisty, like he loves to fight and mix it up. He's a prideful guy you can tell. Professional about it and it shows. That stuff is invaluable. Setting a tone in practice, carrying yourself a certain way.

But yes his pass pro is special. He puts on clinics. Like you said his ability to scan and ID is elite. I've seen him move his head, feet almost like a clock or QB going through his progressions. Ive seen him ID late blitzes from the nickel off the edge after fake pressure up the middle. Smart. I always try to look at different parts of the body on certain plays and his eyes/head dont move when he delivers a blow. Like he doesn't shy away or duck his head away when contact arrives.



He's does this almost weekly


And yea his rec skills are legit. 3 down player that can come out the backfield or flex out in space where I think he'll be even more dangerous next level. He'll be great on those option routes in the MOF.

Pass pro is key though. That's keeping Stevenson off the field and its a lost art in today's game. Like we have no dominant inline blockers at TE. Just wrote about this in my thread. So when you play to their strengths and flex them out, send them out on routes your RB pass pro becomes extremely important. Guys like him don't really come along that often. I think he's an easy top 64 pick imo.

We have two running backs with some age ti them, white and bolden.

bolden contributes mightily on special teams and is good injury insurance.
White is at the point where he breaks down every couple of plays.

I think bb has to look at getting us younger in the running back room!

Watched tape on charbonet of ucla. He is a tackle breaking machine. Got some quicks to him and might be a guy we should be interested in drafting since Harris has been hurt every year for us.
