Best First Round/Worst First Round

Best: Seattle
Worst: Jacksonville

I don't like Tebow at all, so I'd question Denver's move.

I liked Seattle's draft.

The Cowboys got Bryant at 24. Steal of the draft.

A lot of people don't properly account for off-field characteristics and impact on team performance when evaluating football players (which is, above all, a team sport). Bryant may be considered a steal because of his athletic and football skills; but he can also be considered a bust in the making due to the rest of what he brings (or doesn't bring) to the table.

Time will tell if maturity truly sets in or if his 10 cent character continues to reveal itself.

Best: 49ers

They've solidified their OL for the next 8 years.

Worst: Chargers

Trading away half of their draft board for a RB with that much mileage and injury history was not wise. I feel they would've been better off keeping LT.

#3 the pats. to pass on IMO the only 3-4 DE in the draft that could have started day one ( Jared Odrick ) one year after tradeing seymour, only to draft a ST/#4 corner IMO that is a fail. i like McCourty, i just think CB was not the biggest need.[/QUOTE]

For those that think the Pats had one of the worst first rounds of any team in the draft, let me ask this:

If I told you a team got one of the top 2 or 3 CBs in the draft, who also happens to be the best Special Team player in the draft, with pick No. 27, and added a 3rd Round pick, plus a better 4th Round Pick in manuevering to get him, would you still call it one of the worst drafts?

If you answer that honestly, on it's face you can't say that. It's because you wanted a player drafted at a different position, that you rate them poorly.

Let me ask it this way, if the Patriots traded down 5 spots in the first round, and in doing so picked up a better position in the 4th Round, AND a 3rd Round pick, would you rather they pick their 15th rated player or their 30th rated player when they finally drafted?

I don't know that they had McCourty 15 and Kindle 30, but clearly they had McCourty quite a bit higher than Kindle, because OLB was a bigger need.

Incomplete........ It really remains to be seen.

Depending on who the Patriots pick up with their newly acquired 3rd and 4th.

If it's 1 or 2 guys that end up contributing this year (or even down the road), then you can make the argument that they should be right up there with the best round 1.

If it's two guys that won't ever see the field due to injury or just don't get it, well then this move really doesn't really make much impact. Bottom line, I think they got the guy they wanted all along and picked up a few more chips to play with. That's pretty solid.

As for worst...... easy. I say Denver....... Then again, I think Teblows is way over-rated. He has average to poor written all over him.

I've been down on the Pats move all night, but not because McCourty is a bad player. He's a pretty good player and graded out to about where he was drafted. I was more upset at drafting a CB. So in the end we got a good player and GAINED a third rounder today.

Tebow, however, graded out to be a mid-round selection. Plus Denver gave up picks to get him. I like Tebow, but just not where he went and what it cost the Broncos to get him.

Now the question of the day? Will Tebow be a better player than MCourty? McCourty won't make an impact for a few years as a CB unless you consider a first round ST ace as a good move. I vote yes on Tebow being more of an impact player by and before 2013 so I guess I grade the Pats as a D for grabbing a ST player in round one. Valuable addition? O.K. first round chattel? No.

If McCourty starts in 2010 kick my butt. Buy my comparison is Tebow to McCourty as the finite difference. I am not a great Tebow fan, he was just the better choice and as much of a non-need as McCorty.

Is it possible that BB actually misses the talents of Ellis Hobbs to grab this kid? I don't want another Hobbs.

Expect Williams to get cut.

IMO you should go best player available and the Cowboys did just that. A Austin/Bryant combo is going to be awesome to watch.

Also - why are people saying the Bills had a bad draft?

Lynch won't be a Bill next season and they got the most explosive player in the draft who could turn into the next CJ.

And they STILL could get Clausen since he slide all the way into the second round.

If they cut Williams, the Cowboys are idiots. They traded for him for a 1st, a 3rd and a 6th.

Huh?

How often do CBs get drafted into the league and not make an impact for a few years?

McCourty is much, much closer to making a sizable impact than Tebow is, and I suspect it will come both on defense and special teams.

How can you bag on the Denver move, especially when you're giving the Patriots a pass?

The Patriots pick was great, what on earth are you talking about? This guy was actually projected to be a late 1st round pick or early 2nd rounder, unlike Tim Teabaggin' Tebow who was projected as a level 3 pedophile.

Best: San Francisco - Added 2 of the top 5 offensive linemen in the draft. The Niners have some elite talents in their offense, and could still add Clausen, whom they had been tied to.

Worst: Buffalo - I think CJ Spiller will be a fine player, but how is Buffalo going to contend without a decent tackle on either side of the ball? Spiller will be a nice, pesky player, but for the role they would play Dexter McCluster would be as effective, and Dan Williams or Anthony Davis would have looked good here.

I think these are exact opposite. Spiller could be just as good as Peterson or CJ on top of being an excellent return man. OL can be found later in the draft, but Spiller is a rare talent.

SF needed one OL, but needed other positions more. Then to trade in front of Miami was a wasted move.
