Ben Watson's Return

So Ben Watson absent from Wednesdays practice....Time to Trade for Tight End BB use a Second Rounder for one enough is enough.

Watson, come here I need you

It would be hard for Watson to give us less production from the TE position than we've gotten, so I welcome him with open arms!

the bar is very, very low

Where did this come from? I didn’t think the idea of not using him was even in play.
with Watson not traveling with the team to Washington for Sunday's game, it pushes the decision to the brink and sparks a question as to why the club wouldn't have Watson on the field at the earliest possible time. After all, they badly need help at tight end. Watson, who suffered a concussion in the preseason, has told those close him that he is healthy; he wasn't on the field for Wednesday's full-pads practice, but was present at the media-access portion of practices Thursday and Friday. So perhaps the Patriots are simply playing it safe with the 38-year-old Watson, knowing they have a quick turnaround next week with a Thursday home game against the Giants. Or maybe Watson's spot on the team isn't as secure as it once seemed. As they say, stay tuned.
Patriots' most valuable rookie has been ... punter Jake Bailey?

If he's cut they save $2m. Maybe they think the money can be used more efficiently?

Or...maybe they think they don't need him this week and would rather use the roster spot somewhere else?

With the quick turnaround, not needing him for the Redskins was my initial thought. It seems the question now is that they might not bring him on board at all, which would be surprising to me.

Agree. I think they need they need a reliable target at TE. I'm assuming they think Watson is that guy.

Maybe they plan on running a ton today. I thought Ben was a functional blocker but at 86 years old maybe they want to spare him from that grind in early Oct.
