"Over the course of the past several months, I have spoken with Randy and his representative about Randy's place on our team and his future in football. Consistent with my dealings with Randy from the day we acquired him through our conversation this morning, it has been honest, thoughtful and with great mutual respect.
"While I will keep private the details of internal conversations with players and staff, suffice it to say that many things were taken into consideration before making the trade. In this business, there are complex and often difficult decisions, but it is my responsibility to make them based on what I feel is best for our football team, in both the short term and long term. I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached Randy Moss and aside from facing him as an opponent, I wish him the very best for the remainder of his Hall of Fame career."
Moss was acquired by New England on April 29, 2007 from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft (110th overall). During his first season in New England, Moss helped the Patriots finish with a 16-0 regular-season record, setting an NFL record with 23 touchdown receptions.
Moss is in his 13th NFL season after originally joining the Minnesota Vikings as a first round draft pick (21st overall) out of Marshall in 1998. After seven seasons with the Vikings (1998-2004), Moss was traded to Oakland (2005-2006) on March 2, 2005 in exchange for linebacker Napoleon Harris, a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft (7th overall) and a seventh-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 210-pound wide receiver has played in 190 career games with 183 starts and has caught 935 passes for 14,604 yards and 151 touchdowns.
Since joining the Patriots via trade prior to the 2007 season, Moss has caught 50 touchdowns - the best in the league over that span. In terms of overall touchdowns (rushing, receiving and returning), Moss has totaled 152 scores since entering the league in 1998 (151 via reception and one via punt return), a tally that ranks fourth in NFL history.
Moss currently ranks fifth on the NFL's all-time receiving yards list with 14,604. He is one of just seven players to reach 14,000 yards. He is 10th on the NFL's all-time reception list with 935 career receptions. Moss has 64 career 100-yard games, second only to WR Jerry Rice's 76 career 100-yard games.
Moss was named to the Associated Press All-Pro Team following the 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2007 seasons and has earned six career Pro Bowl selections (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007).

Nice to know that you "want" something. Too bad you are going to be disappointed.
But, let me read between the lines for you.
Belichick: " It's none of your Go***mn business what we took into consideration when we made this trade. You're a fan and I don't give a damn what you "want." My goal is one thing and one thing only. To put together a team to win the SuperBowl. I've been doing this, in this city, for 11 years now. We've got more SB appearances in that time (4) than any other team during the salary cap era. If that isn't enough for you, then I don't have the time to explain all the intricacies to you."
Interesting, three weeks ago you were all for letting Moss take a hike.LoL-- Bill is loosing his magic -- been losing it for a couple seasons
this will really have a tough time making the post season
Brady isn't 25 anymore!!
Wonder how long it will be till you start hearing Brady rumours
he can't be happy!!
Moss doesnt need a shrink or isnt depressed
hes spoiled and wants a new contract and big money- not that he shouldnt ask for one b ut its just the way he goes about it--
i wouldnt give out anymore than a one year offer
if he wants multi year- then goodbye- he aint getting any younger

good one.....LOL, I'm sure he'll get right on that. Can't have a legion of angry internet posters, after all.
I have to agree. Its time for Bill to step down before Brady gets traded next. If that happens they will be losing me as a fan, I can promise you that.
Not bad i liked the Disney world part. :rocker:Here is BB's statement and in red is what he was really saying.
"Over the course of the past several months, I have spoken with Randy and his representative about Randy's place on our team and his future in football. They wanted a 4 year deal @ $10mil per year. LMAO! When you see cows fly over Gillette is when we will do that for a 33-34 year old receiver.
Consistent with my dealings with Randy from the day we acquired him through our conversation this morning, it has been honest, thoughtful and with great mutual respect. I told him to keep his freakin mouth shut and play football. He did for a while, but I guess a zebra does not change stripes.
"While I will keep private the details of internal conversations with players and staff, suffice it to say that many things were taken into consideration before making the trade. Like that stupid press conference thingy he did after the Bengals game. WTF was he thinking? Maybe he was just punching his ticket out of here- and it worked.
In this business, there are complex and often difficult decisions, but it is my responsibility to make them based on what I feel is best for our football team, in both the short term and long term. I'm too old to be putting up with this prima donna crap.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached Randy Moss and aside from facing him as an opponent, I wish him the very best for the remainder of his Hall of Fame career." If only I had a shut down corner or Rodney, he's be thinking Revis Island was Disney World.
OK, this was done in an attempt at humor.
Patience !
We have won superbowls with less than we have now.
Welker is better than any receiver we had on any of
the superbowl teams, and Hernandez and Gronkowski
is better than any of the TE's from the championship
team.
In 2001 Belichick suspended the best receiver we had
Terry Glenn. A lot of coaches in this league, would have
kissed his ***, because they thought we had a better
chance to win with Glenn.
Not Belichick....
He has no problem making questionabel moves...
Going with Testerverde over Kosar in Cleveland.
Suspending Terry Glenn in 2001.
Picking Brady over Bledsoe for the 2001 superbowl
after Bledsoe drove us to victory in the 2001 AFCCG.
Cutting Lawyer Milloy in 2003.
Sticking with Matt Cassel when Brady got hurt.
ect....
I jumped the gun a couple years ago, after Brady got hurt.
I thought our season was over with Cassel at QB.
He looked terrible in the preseason and I had zero
faith in him.
As usual Belichick knew more than the rest of us.
Cassel had a great year and we ended up 11-5.
Even though we did not make the playoffs it turned
out to be a good season. We ended up with Chung
with the pick we got from KC for Cassel.
