Here is the final ruling from the NFL:

# Bill Belichick has been fined $500,000 by the NFL.

# The Patriots have been fined $250,000 by the NFL.

# The Patriots will give up their first-round pick in 2008 if they make the playoffs. If they don't make the playoffs, they will surrender second- and third-round picks.

# Belichick will not be suspended.

“This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field,” Commissioner Goodell wrote in a letter to the Patriots.

Actually, this is not that bad. First round pick hurts, but the suspension would be worse in my estimation. In addition, you know that trades will happen and the team will end up with a decent draft next year. You know there were a lot of people in the league who wanted to see him suspended and are probably pretty disappointed. Glad this is over, but it makes me wonder if other teams are going to be scrutinized this year. I sure hope so.

Well the Pats still have a first rounder, BB doesnt get suspended. I think that Pats got off lucky if you ask me. I'm surprised there isnt a suspension in there and I suspect it is because of Kraft's influence. Bring on SD!!

They have San Francisco's first rounder next year anyway. Losing a first rounder (okay, assuming they make the playoffs) sucks, but I think they'll survive...

God forbid -if brady misses time and we dont make the playoffs then we lose the 2nd and 3rd for what ?

I wouldve rather have him decide what picks he want to take and taken them

Well I think the lose of a first rounder is BS (we all know their making the playoffs) but at least BB doesn't get suspended at all.

I was pretty close on the overall fine. The thing about this being such a large punishment means that we'll have to hear about this for weeks and the commishioners comments make it even worse.

I don't know, at least the waiting is over.
