Before Free Agency Starts

A few questions:

1. What date does the first phase of free agency start? 2/15? I know the first phase ends the week before the draft.

I believe teams can begin designating franchise and transistion players on the 9th of calendar. I also believe that teams can begin to waive/release players that were on their 2005 rosters on 2/22.

3. when is draft weekend? is it the third or lsat weekend in april?

The last weekend in April, the 29th and 30th.

BEFORE MARCH 2nd
1. Hire and promote coaches, and perhaps let one go.
2. Negotiate a new deal with McGinist.
3. Decide whether to franchise Adam.
4. Sign a few more future contracts and allocate(sentence) players to Europe
5. Participate in combine and build Draft Board
6. Get some rest and relaxation

7. Learn the amount of escalators reached by players. Samuel, Branch, Klecko, and Koppen all have escalator clauses in their contracts. Graham may have. Seymour may still have one.

According to Felger (1/25 article and thread) the FA period could actually be pushed back a week if the CBA talks get done close to that date. This would give the teams time to get up to speed on the new ramifications.
