Bedard's source says Maye isn't ready to start and there are things with the offense that he is "working through"

It just looks like they think he could macjones out ie lose all confidence/cry when hit with adversity, which I don’t think is the case. They don’t want a repeat and are being careful much to our displeasure…
If he is mentally Mac Jones then he needs to play now so we can see that and move on to the next guy

If true and he needs so much time to be ready, was it really worth taking him at 3.

Could have traded with Minnesota and had 11 and 23 picks and taken McCarthy and and Xavier Legette.

Drake Maye is NOT a can't miss generational talent. McCarthy or Penix just as good if not better, as both are more NFL ready.
“Are just as good if not better”. LMFAO, tell me sir, HOW do YOU know this?

Albert Breer kinda backs up what Bedard was saying. Looks like Maye is still working on know how to deal with the blitz and that he is not yet the best QB on the team, but getting close. Looks like the target to start him is in November.

Like anything else, what does "ready" mean to the coaches. If he is so bad after one quarter of the season that he can't replace Bissett, that would be a problem in my mind.

Sounds like they are getting him to work on things he needs to have to be successful in the NFL - footwork, the basics on how to read defenses, how to handle the blitz. A lot of this can be done in practice and will make him better for it when he sees live action.

So I guess we are doomed. Drake Maye is worse than Jacoby Brissett. Brissett is playing despite being incapable because Maye is even worse.

We spend a #3 on a guy who isn’t better than a Qb who can lead an offense to 1 TD a game while throwing for 134 yards a game and having our entire WR on lace for less than 1000 yards with no receiver gaining more receiving yards per game than Juju and Parker had last year with Jones/Zappe.

I guess we should tank and pick a Qb next year.

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Players are mad because Maye is looking great in practice, several reporters are also reporting that Maye looks great in practice, yet you have a few "select" reporters coming out and saying "no no no, actually, you see, Maye is actually worse than Brissett". Worse than the guy who is throwing about 100 yards and 0.5 TDs a game? Can't beat that guy? I'd hope any guy drafted 3rd overall could beat that output on day 1... Doesn't pass the sniff test.

Agreed, I think is pretty damn close if not better at the moment.

He is better as a QB. Now is he better at understanding NFL defenses as a 9 year vet. Probably not. So yeah, stop with the hyperventilating. Maye is fine, and will be fine.

So he's been practicing footwork for 5 months and still doesn't have it. Also 5 months of film study on defenses. Time for some OJT.

Sure it takes time to ensure it sticks. And he just turned 22, give him a little bit of time shall we?

Wasn’t Joe Milton the guy who impressed early in TC? Before he got shunted off to the side.

According to Breer, they are working on handling the blitz now more than his footwork. And years of bad footwork isn’t worked out of a QB’s system overnight. It cantakes months and even years to cure a QB of bad habits.

Breer said he isn’t their best QB and will play when he surpasses brissett

I cannot say if Maye should play or not but Brissette needs to sit...
