Bedard: There was second guessing about Mayo over summer and him getting a second year isn't guaranteed

You have to get talent through the draft is what I said and had they done in in the years where they weren't competitive we wouldn't have to do it now.

This team has almost no talent. It's not competitive and is going no where.

This idea that we need to scratch and claw to 6 or 7 wins to change the culture is laughable to me.

What we need is talent. And top end talent to boot.

Only way you're going to get that is high draft picks and a GM who picks the right guys.

So far they've had neither.

Is "collecting talent" really the path to building a team? That Quixotic quest has stumped the Jete for many years now.

YES -- "scratching and clawing" for wins is key to how teams are built. Considering that "laughable" just confirms how flawed your focus on high draft picks is. If that was the case a team like the 2001 Patriots never would've happened. Talent is developed as much as procured through the draft and free agency.

Is the goal to get talent or to win SBs?

I'm not going to argue the math side that better picks = better talent but if it was that simple why haven't there been more teams to win a SB that way?

Because sucking like that multiple years in a row breeds a losing culture that takes years to overcome.

You're just arguing to argue. The season is lost. It's time for you to accept that the higher the pick the better.

All this other stuff you're talking about means nothing to me. We will be in a better spot going forward with pick 1 then pick 10.

I don't think it's debatable.

You're comparing the 2001 team to the 2 and 6 2024 Patriots?

On what grounds?

We will be in better place the more Drake wins.

No, I didn't compare those two teams. I addressed your belief that picking high in the draft is how winning teams are built.

In fact we will be in a better place getting him quality players.
That's just not how it's historically played out. I would say you lose more players to quite quitting and malaise then you typically can gain from one pick.

How many times are you gonna say it's not how it historically plays out?

Like your argument doesn't make sense. Are you saying you rather draft later in the rounds then earlier?

We don't have a NFL roster friend. Wwre not losing on purpose. We're losing cause the team sucks.

Outside of Maye they have nothing. Maybe throw Gonzalez in there but other than that they have nothing.

As many times as you keep asking and as long as you keep arguing over something that historically has not commonly occurred.

There's about 20 million different arbitrary arguments that I could bring to you about how your way is wrong as well so I don't feel like continuing to debate the same thing if you're not going to have an honest take on the matter.

The reality is pick one is better than pick 15 and if you want to be on record saying that it's not then I'm fine with putting you on the record.

It's not about the pick it's about how bad you have to be to get that pick and how long it typically takes to climb out from that kind of suck.

We just did this last year and we're potentially headed right back there how is that for arbitrary.

There are countless teams that have been in the position of multiple years of top end draft picks and the percentage of getting stuck in this position far far out number the ones that can quickly draft out of it.

That's how that 2001 team was built. But you knew that already.

No, the 2001 team had a ton of waiver-wire free agents. It wasn't a roster built on years of sucking to accumulate high draft picks. But I'm not going to belabor your DOA notion of how winning teams are built, there's no point. I just hate the loser mentality.

It's almost like you don't actually know juF how bad we are.

If the Patriots were capable of winning 6 games they would win 6 games.

Name the 10 best players on that 2001 Patriots team as it's almost certain that they were all taken in the first three rounds.

Seymour, McGinnest and Bledsoe were all top 6 picks.

Milloy, law, Johnson and light and bruschi all in the top 3 rounds.

But ya man. The team was all waiver wire.

But if we sucked more a few years ago we wouldn't be in this place now.

We would have more talent actually. We would definitely still suck because we never got the quarterback.

I mean you do understand that It's a quarterback league and without a quarterback you're going nowhere right?

Not to mention Kevin faulk , Adrian klem, tebucky Jones and even Terry Glenn. The team was low key stacked with home grown top round talent and highly disrespected.

As a fan of the Patriots you probably shouldn't contribute to the fact that they were just peons.

We have Maye so why would you want to continue to suck.
