Bedard: Team thinks Maye has made a huge leap forward this offseason.

I assume Maye is the real deal and will take another step forward this year. But I also am aware that a lot of fans on other teams think Maye was the schedule last year and don't believe he's one of the better real franchise quarterbacks yet. I've also seen Pats fans and Pats reporters feel incredulous that anyone could think that way about Maye. I think this is a prove it season, where Maye cements himself as a legit top 10 QB or he'll continue to be questioned, like Herbert.

I hate to admit it.
I blamed Brady for the lack of development at WR.
I felt he didn’t have the patience to work with young talent.

I think Brady was of the mindset that, if you learn the offense, and are open, he’s gonna find you. Hell, it happened with veterans who couldn’t get it and wound up ignored. Example, Ocho Cinco. Galloway was another.

Then you look at some of the young guys, rookies for example, who did get it, and they got the ball. Gronk, Hernandez, Malcom Mitchell. Hell, Gronk & Hernandez, their 1st season, they caught 86 between them, and then the next year broke the record for a TE tandem that still stands today. Brady was always gonna hit the open man, and to be open, you have to learn the offense and know where to be.

Just need to see that dawg in him come playoff time
Didn't have it his first post season run

I think it was apparent in the playoffs, that despite how great his season was, he and Josh need to figure out the quick passing game for when the OL goes through stretches where it can’t hold up. If that’s where improvements are made, I’ll be very optimistic on that side of the ball
The TB offense always had a really good slot guy and third down back that the offense ran through. I don't know why they haven't employed the Brown/WW/JE11 and Faulk/Woodhead/Sweet-Feet types since he left. It worked so well for a really long time.

I actually believe he's done this already last season. Remember how he started out a bit rocky and as the season went on he flourished.. brought his team back in the 4th of games .. preserved through in-game adversites .. I believe last season he proved his place from the flashes he showed as a rookie.... from this point on it will be about consistently getting better and better.. sky's the limit.

He was bad in the playoffs. I need to see it
Not the entire playoffs. I'd argue his first two games were really good given what was happening with the OL. The tunrovers were a problem. But his movement in the pocket, the throws, the accuracy, the clutch play, they were really good against the Texans and Chargers.

People might want to also remember that after the Patriots won the 2001 Super Bowl, the entire team including Brady had a falloff the next year, even though there was a lot of growth that set the stage for the next 2 years.
