Bedard on Pats offensive problems

"It’s not just the receivers. It’s not just the pass or run blocking. It’s not just Tom Brady’s inaccuracy. It’s a combination of everything. Basically, there isn’t one thing they do well."

I almost stopped reading after I read this sentence. The offense has had their problems but they have played well enough to win games. You don't get any extra W's in the win column if you have a fantasy offense. Our super bowl teams didn't have the greatest show on turf. Our team always gets better as the season progress's and this year will be know different.

We are what we are:

6-2

First place

Sure bet to win the division, again.

In the hunt for a bye.

Developing "D" which could lead us. Deep into January and just maybe a certain game in Feb.

An offense that still has time to find itself, gaining experience and certainly has the talent to get very very good.

I like our chances.

alot of it starts with Amendola...he is/was supposed to be the welker replacement who can get open quickly on those short middle of the field/slant throws..

but he just hasnt been on the field...if he can start to play like he did in week 1(and that was with a torn groin as well) along with Gronk getting his legs under him this offense should be alot better.

I would like to see the pats start in the hurry up tomorrow to get an offensive rhythm

BB is resting Ridley for the playoffs.

Isn't that what we said about Laurence Maroney? LOL.
JK. Maroney never even cracked 1,000 yards.
Ridley is a lot better than that. But he does need to keep the BALL SECURE or he might see more benchings.

Our offense runs noticeable smoother when our lead RB is in there to take the pressure off Brady though...

I think that nothing Bedard says is wrong. In fact its pretty obvious. You don't have to be a "football expert" to notice that there are many things wrong with the Pats offense. It only points out to what an extreme degree we have all been spoiled by the outrageous productivity of the Pats offense since 2007..... including 2008.

What all this should show is how extremely delicate the balance that has to be maintained by all aspects of the offensive game in order for it to function at the extremely high level that we've become accustomed to.the previous 6 years.

Part of the reason for all the success was the newness of the scheme. The Pats were ahead of the curve first in running the 4 wide so successfully and later the 2 TE's. We the fact is that NFL defenses catch up over time. What's so surprising is that they have had this scheming advantage as long as they have. Its to their great credit that they've been able to have the offense evolve over time to keep ahead of the D. But make no mistake about it, the Defenses are catching up

Part of the reason is that the balance is so delicate that it only takes about a 5% drop off in execution by the QB, receivers, and OL groups to throw the whole thing into the crapper, The good news is that the solution is not a big fix. Its just going to take time. Time and patience. Personally I don't think we are going to see see any offense have a 6 year run of that kind of excellence any time soon. The DC's in this league are just too good to let it happen.

But the offensively challenged 2001 team was good enough to win a superbowl, while the equally offensively challenged 2006 team played well enough that they should have he to have gotten to another supper bowl, but for a defensive melt down and Peyton Manning having a career playoff game.

Lets see how this offense looks after the bye (assuming they don't lose anyone else on Sunday ) I think we will see some gradual improvement over the last 7 games of the season, and it will be good enough to make a deep run into the playoffs

Neither of these teams we're offensively "deficient." I'll be thrilled if our offense ends up as the 6th or 7th highest scoring team in the league.

It's a myth/revisionist history that the Pats at any point in the Brady/BB era we're offensively deficient. The worst Patriot offense since 2001 was the 03 Pats, who we're still above average. (12th in ppg)

We're a bit more than a field goal a game under that goal. To put it another way, we are one TE away. If Gronk plays, our running game, slot passing game and red zone offense will all improve. I am not even talking about Gronk the Great. As of now, we have almost nothing from the TE position.

I'll be thrilled if our offense ends up as the 6th or 7th highest scoring team in the league.

When's the last time he fumbled the ball? Plus, that's part of the game. Are we going to start benching Brady every time he fumbles the ball? It's one thing to take him out for a couple of plays after a mistake but taking him out of games or limiting his touches after a mistake is like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

yeah...well...when it comes to self serving, self aggrandizing , self proclaimed "experts" all I have to say is...how about the 2013 Red Sox?....how many of these "I'm the knower of things...big expert" columnists fell flat on their stupid faces...and, now that they've been proven totally ignorant morons, refuse to acknowledge THEIR erroneous big mouths?

I'm getting real tired of these chest thumping Pats-it-alls printing these bullshyt opinion pieces like they are FACT. How about reporting without all the "I'm an Einstein" chest thumping?...obviously Bedard is hot on the trail of an ESPN job to FURTHER HIS CAREER, which is the ONLY THING ANY OF THESE CRUDS CARE ABOUT.

The Red Sox won the World Series and Johnny Gomes was a KEY contributor....I'd bet Bedard would write up a stupendously ego-centric "why is a .180 hitter starting in left??? It's BAD!!! They are all BAD!!!! and you can believe ME, Greg Bedard...KNOWER EXTROADINAIRE!!!"....the Pats are SIX and TWO...they could well be SEVEN and TWO by tomorrow night....Bedard's face needs to meet a concrete abutment at 80 mph with these hit pieces of his rammed down his throat.
