The kid that that looked like any other QB vs a good defense. If losing 1 WR during the game is the reason why you dont win then maybe youre overated. Its the same old story. I want see a guy step up and win despite the odds.

Heisman winning QBs are hit or miss in the pros. This guy is no Burrow or Murray.
We didn't just lose 1 WR, we lost our #2 WR in the GA game in December, so we were down our #1 & #2 WRs. The freshmen that had to come in did the best they could given the situation, first real game time against GA defense for the National Championship. Not an easy task for a 18 year old!
Our OL that had protected Young in December was not there last night, 2 guys were injured in the semi-finals, and the GA defense pushed them around. Young was under distress most the night, his 2 best receivers out, and dumb dumb head BOB called a horrible game.
Personally I don't think Young will have a stellar career in the NFL, he is just too small, but having great college QBs not translate to great NFL QBs is really not that uncommon.
I think you really have to give credit to GA and Lanning for their game plan against our offense. They beat on the line of scrimmage and that's is where the game is won and lost.

All I saw in this game were very fast, fast linebackers. It was incredible. Our Linebackers seems to have cement in their cleats.

It goes without saying that there's no guarantee college success translates into NFL success. The kid had an excellent season. The first win vs Georgia was indeed the type of impressive win you talk about. He stepped up and took over.

I think Georgia's defense deserves a lot of credit.
Mercer, South Mississippi, New Mexico State and Arkansas = 1560 (33%) of Youngs passing yards and 19 (40%) of his TDs. Good defenses do not allow 559 passing yards and 5 TDs like Arkansas.

Mac looks like Brady vs Jacksonville.

Yep a number of us have identified that as an area that needs upgrading- especially if they are going to ask Judon to scream up the field and give up the edge.

Bama's D was spotty all season but more than impressed vs Georgia at the SEC Championship.
Frankly, I couldn't understand why Georgia's massive size advantage didn't have more impact in that 1st game.
It certainly helped last night
Georgia was certainly deserving

The SEC stands alone at the top....no peer in sight

The reason that GA defense looked the way they did in SECCG was due to our offense. We were running tempo and hurry up most the game and flat out wore them out. They even admitted it.
The problem last night was we lost too many weapons to be able to do that. Having lost Metchie in that game and then Williams our offense was a disaster for that type style of play. Credit to GA to adjusting as well, they really put a lot of pressure on Young and our OL, especially with 2 guys playing injured just couldn't stop their DL.

GA deserved this title no doubt. Alabama will come back next year because we are so freaking young!

who knew 30+ year old LBs with tons of wear and tear are slower than 20-23 year olds. I recall Hightower flying around in the national title game a decade ago....

but also there's a reason they took McGrone even though he would miss the season
just listen to the commentary at 3:20 in the video

because BB still thinks its the 1980s and likes big heavy LBs. Would be nice to get one of these fast guys in the draft. I think he is kind of trending in that direction when he drafted Uche and McGrone but we will see

It's more that in a 3-4 scheme you need an elite nose tackle, otherwise there are holes everywhere in run defense starting with a porous DLine. You do need LB's who are bigger in a 3-4 than tiny LB's in a 4-3 defense. The problems on the Pats defense are crappy Godchaux and crappy Bentley. The vet LB's know what to do but are getting older. Unfortunately the younger guys on the DLine or at LB suck (Godchaux, Bentley).

Pats biggest needs on defense are:
-elite NT who can take on 2 blockers and not be pushed back.
- MLB who doesn't suck as bad as Bentley
- CB2 to play next to JC Jackson so the Pats can use more press man cover-1, less soft zone with CBs 10 yards off the line.

Georgia fan here…

1. What a feeling, what a game!

I hate Bama but sure do respect them. On Bryce Young…he isn’t the reason they lost. He hit at least 3 guys in the hands only to see them drop it. One was in the endzone. Kid is a baller. Don’t think he will be much as a pro, but heck, I’m not sure Mac will either after this last few weeks. It’s a crapshoot.

Now as for next year…Bama is young sure…

but GA just won a Natty with a walk on QB.

We keep recruiting at an elite level and have 2 five star QB’s coming up.
Dawgs are going nowhere.

Congrats from this Bama fan, hellva ball game!

Congrats to Georgia taking down the Evil Empire.

BCG, what is your opinion on the Bama safety Battle?
Sorry didn't see this until now.

It always speaks volumes when Saban or Bill play young pups. Battle played almost immediately at Bama as a true FO even if he wasn't starting all the time. He's always been doing different things and tasked with different things even from a young age there. And he was making plays. So that speaks to me and Bama just pumps out Saf like no one's business.

Nice size. Real 6'1/210. Which is a plus bc of his skill set. I think he could make a good living as a SS / Hybrid type .. eventually. He's aggressive, able to sift through the traffic up front, able to disengage from WR's/TE's and make a play on the ball carrier. Fills his gaps very well, on time and angry for most part. Decent blend of athleticism and physicality.

More natural and at least right now probably better suited / overall in zone coverage. Really adapt and comfortable in space, playing off his eyes and instincts. Times up the ball at the catch point well. Plus spacing / awareness, timing and instincts.

Beats up and bullys smaller WR's in the MOF. Good job patrolling shallow zone. He's aligned deep, single high, two high and everywhere else but I think he's a natural fit up front.

Decent in man coverage but doesn't always seem to trust his instincts or eyes or w/e it is, enough. Has the athleticism, flips his hips with ease, very smooth but he'll get lost in the sauce a bit. He'll get caught up at the top of route and again that little hesitation can be a killer with these athletes. Plus ball skills. Rips his arm through / down the WR's chest. Route recognition is good. Plus tracking and ball skills. Can run with most targets and can cover the slot.

Plus tackler or close to it.

Once and a while will get a little too aggressive coming up in run support.

At times he can make things a little hard on himself with the angles he takes.

Truthfully not sure if his lateral movements suffer from the indecision I mentioned above and he's just a tick slow at times or what but I noticed it a few times. Plays with juice, lots of energy but play speed can be inconsistent at times.

I'm finishing up putting together my Saf list. I imagine he'll be S5-6 or right around there.

I don't despise Alabama for all of their success, but Georgia plays the kind of football that is just plain enjoying to watch.

Maybe, but no one cares.

Igor, sorry to break it to you but BOB won 4 division titles with the Texans, had some of TB12's best seasons ever in a 2 TE offense, and also developed Gronk and Edelman. Meanwhile the current oc rode coat tails and has had 4+ specific seasons of total pathetic disaster without tb12 carrying him. I won't waste any more thought as I know you consistently have zero actual football opinions, just a troll.

This is such a curious opinion

Why would we think the philosophy that has produced thise results is outdated and should be changed?

Here are the 80s, Belichicks 6 years as DC with the giants.

looks like the “80s thinking” works better now.

It’s amazing to me how fans of the people who handed us the greatest run in NFL history spend most of their time trying to knock the people responsible without taking the time to look at the actual facts.
