Re: Broken Record Time - We need a S & an OL

I agree. Obviously, there may be others who add more than he does, certainly more than Ihedigbo.

There may be a question of how well Sharper can handle man coverage at this point in his career.

Marcus Cannon is on the PUP, so hopefully he'll be ready by week 7-9. I think the bye is in week 7, so that will give him some extra time. They need a guy with his stature for the rotation.

It's obvious you're new here. Get with the program. These clowns live to second guess and analyze things they know next to nothing about. We don't enjoy anything here. Before the sun comes up there will be a thread here biatching about Brady throwing an INT...
Henne throwing for 400 yards is for losers.

Brady isnt going to have games like last night every week. But Im sure you already have the answer for everything.

Re: Safety

We need someone to replace Guyton more than any other position on the field.

I was very disappointed in Guyton's play. What was everyone saying about Darius Butler? Always in the right position, but never turned his head around?? That is what I saw from Guyton. I really hope that Edds can step it up and take over for Guyton.

Been saying this for a while, he cannot shed blocks at the line of scrimmage and has difficulty covering TE's.. love his story, but right now he seems a weak link.

People thinking that yards means anything when the opposing team doesn't score is for losers..

Henne had roughly 224 yards passing by the time that the Pats were up 31 to 17 (well into the 3rd quarter). That's when the Pats started played prevent. Which I absolutely HATE. The Pats gave up 70 yards on the drive that resulted in the Pats stonewalling the Phins on the 1/4 yard line. And then the Pats put the nail in the coffin with the 99.5 yard TD catch and run by Welker.

So, the Pats giving up 200+ yards from the time they were up by 14 is not a big deal to me. Why? Because Yards don't win you games. Points win you games.

Re: Broken Record Time - We need a S & an OL

I am content with Connolly at C especially if Koppen can return this season. He might be better suited for C than G. Depth is a concern considering Wendell's lingering injuries. As for the safeties, let's wait and see. The Chargers will provide a great test this weekend. Plus, any reinforcements would be of little use this weekend because of the short week from the Monday game anyway.

If the Safeties don't play the best game of their lives next week,Gates will have 150yds

Re: Broken Record Time - We need a S & an OL

Every year the same question and the same answer ... Bill develops the defense during the first 6 weeks and sometimes up to 8 weeks. Yet every year some members expect mid-season form in week 1.

I concur. Bill uses the regular season as a training ground for his younger players. Dan Connelly is a more than adequate sub at Guard, but not quite a starter material. But at Center, he is both fully sized at 6-4 315, and apprently smart and heady enough to carve out a starting position.

At safety, it was a shame that Page didn't stay as he would be starting right now, just as he is at the Eagles. BUt when Belichick does what he did, there was a reason, and some talent that he wanted to develop. Bill is not as stupid as some Coaches who will demote or cut someone in a fit of pique without a plan and players to replace him (them), eventually.

Re: Broken Record Time - We need a S & an OL

I thought Connolly looked okay at C tonight, but I agree O'Hara, either as a starter or a backup, could be a nice fit.

Connolly is everything you'd want in a back-up, and nothing you'd want in a starter. He can play multiple positions which is why he's stuck around for so long. O'Hara, if healthy, would be an upgrade and should be on Belichick's radar.

What about Ras I Covering Gates? Seems like a good idea in theory.

That's a reasonable assessment DaBruinz. To me Guyton looked like a lumbering oaf against the Dolphins. He was always that split second late on plays. Granted Henne made some indefensible throws in his direction but his lateral awareness and quickness was just not there last night. Couple that with a developing Safety and a rookie Corner and well, you get the picture.

If Guyton lines up on Gates, given he's Rivers safety valve the defense will be in for a world of hurt this weekend.
