Hmmm - can history really be repeating itself?

After Brady's notched his first win as a starter, he and the team struggled to a blowout loss against the Dolphins.

That wake up call helped pull the team together - though Brady had a few more growing pains along the way to his first Super Bowl.

Just thought that might provide a little perspective to those that were hoping for a 19-0 season!

No. Read my lips: "Matt Cassel is no Tom Brady."

While there is plenty of blame to spread around for this stinker, particularly for the defense, this was one of the worst performances by a Patriots quarterback I have seen in a long time.

Cassel has a better team around him then Brady did.

That's a very interesting perspective. Thank you.

I haven't seen any of the game...just saw the score and said to myself, "Oh 38--13, looks like our guys had a good day." Then I looked a second time and saw that the "38" and the "13" were on the wrong lines of the scoreboard. My bad.

I'm not pushing the panic button yet and would still bet that we're in the Playoffs, but I think we all might have to dial our expectations down a bit.

Anyway, this will be an interesting test. We'll learn how many "true" fans are out here and how many start looking for people to blame. At times like these, we have to stand behind our QB and coaches, not dis them; if, that is, we are true fans.

Keep the faith!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Dolphins team Brady lost had not lost 20 of their last 21 games the way this one has.

I agree, but Brady had some stinkers in his early years, but with brady, you KNEW he had IT.

I love hindsight. You personally KNEW he had IT? Because there were LOADS of people who wanted Bledsoe to get his job back, and the only reason most people accepted it was because we won the superbowl. Otherwise, there still would have been outrage.

Even after the SB, many people were calling for Brady to be traded and to keep Bledsoe.

Not me... I never wanted Bledsoe back. why do you assume I would have? Do you know me?? Knew me then? read my threads from then?

Even when brady had bad games, his pocket presense and passing ability is better than cassel now.

I remeber the 4 pick game against washington. you know what, the PATS still almost one that game with brady still throwing the ball even after being picked off so much. It wasn't until last year that he set the records, but he always had something more than every other QB and every team mate will say so.

On paper maybe, but games aren't won or lost on paper contrary to what some of you believe...

Brady only won with that team because others like Troy Brown and David Patten and a bowling ball like TE named Wiggens and a kicker stepped up on offense and a well coached 25th ranked defense played out of their minds down the stretch.

Anyway, like i said in another thread, we, as pats fans are pissed off and we are talking it out on each other.

Having said that, Brady is a once in a lifetime QB and no one can say that Matt C is going to be able to duplicate that. It's wishful thinking IMHO.

Cassel was much better today than Brady was in that 2001 game. Tom had 60-something yards if I remember right, and looked totally awful.

There are always LOADS of ignorant football fans.
Yes, some of us knew Brady had it pre MVP Moe Lewis because we watched Brady completely outplay Bledsoe in training camp in Smithfield. Then we watched Brady help win games. Bledsoe had gone 5-11 in 2000 and 0-2 to start 2001.

Yea and just imagine the off-season it would have been if we didn't win the superbowl, or worse if we missed the playoffs like '02.

That's pretty much a slap in the face to Brady and the hard work he's put in. He wasn't magically a great QB and he wasn't close to a HOF QB in 2001. You are just fantasizing about the past and re-writing history in your own mind.

If the D played terrible when Brady throws 4 picks, we would not be "close".

I know brady has worked his ass off which is why cassel will never be as good, but brady still has more talent and ability in his freaking pinky toe than cassel will ever had.
