So, we really have no one but Tom Brady who we trust to be our backup holder?

I have to wonder if it's simply that they haven't asked Mallett to do it in the past, and didn't want to risk it tonight.

I'm surprised guys from NFL memes didn't make a joke against Romo like "Learn Romo how to not screw up a hold on a playoff game"

I understand it's Mallett, so maybe they don't want to chance it until he gets a week of work in. He was in on 0% of snaps this year.

I doubt Brady does it next week, Allen playing or not if, for no other reason, so Brady can get to the bench after a score instead of playing another snap.

I like that he his capable and comfortable doing special teams work when called on. He's a football player as much as Mathew Slather. They love doing whatever they can and need to.

A thread about a holder on a night of an epic win ... GOOD GRIEF!!!

I can't believe the Patriots are this thin at backup kick holder. Where is the quality depth? This should be the wakeup call to Kraft to take away BB's personnel authority!

(Tom Brady held for kicks at Michigan even as the starting QB, and he was only a part-time starter his last two years. Ryan Mallett started every year in college and has never been a kick holder in game action. Mystery solved.)

I have no problem being totally useless. My suggestion is that we should have a backup holder on the team. Sure, Brady can hold. He can also punt. He probably could be a gunner too . The point is that there is no particular reason for Brady to be on field for the extra snap.

I wonder how many quarterbacks who are in the Hall of Fame were holders.

Brady can adjust and grab any bad snap, he does that all the time, I'm comfortable with him doing it if necessary, we can't afford to miss a field goal for a bad hold

Actually there was ... it was raining ...

Think about it for a moment ... who handles a wet ball more ...

The QB of the team in a current rain game or a backup holder?

Did the current backup QB handle a snapped wet ball all night?

Belichick played the percentages on this one ... that's how it looked to me.

One missed snap = 1 point ... enough to lose a game that was based on TD's at that time.

Boy, Ryan Allen must have had one messed up shoulder not to be able to tough it out through the game as a punter.

I kid...kind of.

Brady can do anything. That is NOT what we are discussing.

Actually I'm surprised he was able to walk away from that ... whatever it was... after the bad snap.

actually you started a discussion that is irrelevant ...

You are assuming there is not a backup holder ...

As usual, Bill Belichick is playing chess and this thread is playing checkers.

He is simply lining up the pieces for an epic AFC Championship play fake, Brady-to-Slater for 6!

Our gameday backup holder was apparently Brady. I was surprised. I really don't that this is complicated.
