AVP didn't know Marcus Jones played offense until recently

I think the DL played well with him there under BB. Not everyone is a round peg in round hole. If you can teach, you can teach something new if you like it or at least try. Doesn't mean you're made for Coordinator though.
Agreed. I know and understand that there are big pieces on defense missing so that does matter. However when you have key guys missing that's where coaching principles have to come into play even further. Defenses always got better in past patriots teams as the season went on. This year's been worse

Well to be fair it's shouldn't be that hard to improve in the years ahead from 4-13 and a dumpster fire of a roster that was left by the old regime...
Will we see that many wins this year?

It does help if you know what you are trying to teach. Not enough evidence to make a determination about that with some of our present coaches. It didn’t work for the Matt and Judge show.

Yeah its a pretty bad look lol. He returns punts exceptionally well... But doesn't make him a good WR. Maybe bubble screens and trick plays, no idea if he can run routes. Look at Devin Hester... arguably the greatest returner of all time but didn't exactly light world on fire as a WR.

Problem is if he has a limited skill set on offense... you can only use him on a handful of plays.

That said, AVP/Mayo should have probably had that conversation. But AVP seems to be pretty vanilla at playcalling. Just don't think hes a guy who adapts to the personel (although he doesnt have much to work with). Would rather just use Pop for those types of plays.

A professional OC during the offseason should review every single offensive snap from the previous year and take copious notes on what worked and what didn't work. A professional OC on a new team should spend even more time doing this review so that he would have a strong idea of the strengths/weaknesses of his personnel before the preseason starts. He's the lazy stuck in his way guy that we feared he would be.
Marcus was hurt a lot in 2023, did he play any offensive snaps? I don't think he did, so if thats the case then you seem to be just talking **** for the sake of talking ****.

I meant what I was trying to say, but in my haste I didn't say it very well. @Sicilian responded to my comment and correctly pointed out that Marcus had 1 snap in 2023. By saying that a new OC should spend even more time doing this review I was trying to say that a new OC should do a more thorough review (than a returning OC) including going back several years to get a clear picture of the strengths and weaknesses of his personnel, as well as what situations/plays they thrived in.
