At Some Point, Enough is Enough

Look, I support BB but we need to at least pretend to be objective about some of this criticism:
  • For a Defensive-Guru, our defense has been complete garbage during some of our successful seasons (2011 and 2017).
  • He traded our best DE for nothing mid-season.
  • He traded our 2nd best LB for nothing mid-season.
  • He traded our #3 QB for a bust WR.
  • He traded our #2 QB for a 2nd round pick, taking less than the max offer from another team.
  • He allegedly wanted to get rid of the best QB in NFL history in the midst of an MVP season.
  • He threw our MVP QB's trainer out of the facility mid-season.
  • He sat our #2 CB in the Super Bowl where we gave up 400+ yards of offense to a backup QB, then never provided a reason.
  • He is now allegedly the reason why arguably the best TE in NFL history has reservations about playing.

At what point do you people wake up and realize he makes mistakes? And also, before everyone responds with "Well we have 5 Super Bowls now", remember that so does Tom Brady. And last I checked we would have 6 if it wasn't for Bill's mentally ******ed decision to sit one of our best defenders.

Okay Felger, listen carefully. Come in from the ledge and close the window. And for God's sake put down that pipe Chandler Jones left behind, no matter what the stuff in it tells you it is not your friend.

So this is what happens when somebody gets all of their news and analysis from Boston sports radio.

Sorry, I'm having trouble figuring out from the opening post if Bill Belichick the GM is killing Bill Belichick the head coach, or if Bill Belichick the head coach is killing Bill Belichick the GM. Either way, the cap is crap.

Brings back memories. I DONT CARE, I CANT STAND IT

Sounds like someone doesn't care and can't stand it any more.

You can't pay everybody and a tight ship/team chemistry wins out over having the best players at any position, save one. This is BB's philosophy and it's done us a solid for many years now. Enough is never enough as far as I am concerned. Can't wait for the season to start! Go Pats!

Let’s try this one: who has it better than us?

I clicked on the thread thinking that this was a more timely rant...demanding that the muntinous captain planet and his hulking planeteer be traded or cut. Oh well.

Look, I support BB but we need to at least pretend to be objective about some of this criticism:

True. There is no doubt that this place has a lot of Pollyanna posters.
  • For a Defensive-Guru, our defense has been complete garbage during some of our successful seasons (2011 and 2017).
Yes, but the reason those were successful seasons is because the defensive coaching was able to minimize the amount of defensive personnel suck, until it got exposed in the playoffs when playing against offenses that were capable of doing so.
? Seymour was traded just before the season began, and Jones was traded in March.
They didn't get much, that's for certain, but the player was overrated.

Great trade. I'd want him to make it again, if it were possible.
Yeah, this was definitely not something that was handled well by BB, at least based upon our current knowledge.
I've not heard that he wanted to get rid of Brady during the season.
If we're going to be fair and objective, we need to hear the whole story before coming to a verdict on the Guerrero situation.
  • He sat our #2 CB in the Super Bowl where we gave up 400+ yards of offense to a backup QB, then never provided a reason.
Indeed. This was a terrible decision, based upon what we know now. We need to know the full truth before going full Rambo, though.
Well, according to reports, injuries are also part of the reason. However, I would agree that it's stupid to be essentially kicking Guerrero out of the facility when he's been instrumental in helping the team's 2 planet players feel more physically healthy, unless there was a real Rubicon crossed (and we don't know enough to be able to objectively rule on that).

Belichick should certainly not be immune from criticism, and he's made some very questionable moves over the years. But that's true of every coach and GM, and every coach and GM will still have some people defending them to the end. Maybe it doesn't happen with the Browns, but even that dumpster fire of a team might have a (very) few Pollyannas in the fan base.

In the case of BB, there's no immunity that's been earned, IMO, but criticism should be made in the context of the unprecedented success this team has had, if we're to do it objectively.

Thanks for the thread, by the way. I think it's a valid and timely subject for conversation.
