Are the Patriots the first team in NFL history to have 2 home games in 5 days?

I can't remember ANY team ever having 2 consecutive Home games in a 5 day span like New England has this week

Anyone ever seen another team ever have this schedule setup?

If there are any teams that did before, I would assume it was Detroit or Dallas since they play at home every Thanksgiving but otherwise I don't think so

At least they're at home. Between back to back West Coast games and now two games in 5 days, there's a lot of unique challenges on this year's schedule.

Yeah, being home is probably the big saving grace here. If they had a west coast game Thursday I'd be a lot more worried.

I'm more interested to see how Grandpa Favre does on the tiny week.

Something I never understood: With thursday night games, why not arrange the schedule so the Thursday teams have their bye the week before? It just seems like it would make more sense.

Games early in the week are ADVANTAGES. Monday night games are the disadvantages. Think about it.

More precisely, you have no advantage or disadvantage vs. the team you play the same day. It's in your NEXT game that you have an advantage or disadvantage, depending on how long you had off.

This is the first week there is a Thursday game, and it's the last week any team has a bye. So it's not worth doing.

As to why they don't schedule byes later in the season: probably because CBS/FOX lose a Sunday game to Thursday (and eventually another one to Saturday) and don't want to further thin their schedule with byes. Remember, TV is the reason byes exist in the first place.

In the last 3 seasons the NFL has scheduled teams to have back-to-back Sunday-Thursday home games EIGHTEEN times.

Before the Thursday games, they used to have, if I recall correctly, the home teams on Thanksgiving would play on the road the Sunday before, and the road teams on Thanksgiving would play at home the Sunday before. At least they would try to do it this way.

It works in our favor IMO. The short week is not an advantage for us or the Jets, and then we have a long week to rest up and prepare for Miami. Almost like coming off a bye week again.

The only downside may be the fact that you might as well count out Morris and Jordan for the Jets game, but i doubt they would've played Sunday either. Plus neither had a real impact in the first Jets game, other than Jordan having some nice runs in garbage time. And Morris had 0 yards on 8 carries.
