Are the Colts a better team than last year?

And you are diluted!!!

WTF are you to say that?

Take a look at those defensive stats and get back to me.

Stated here before season started that we would be among the leaders in take aways. So far, so good. They are actually (IIRC) tied for 1st in T.O. margin. And were it not for 4 straight FF that were not recovered, we'd be well ahead.

What's you beef with what I said, smart guy??
Why don't you watch a few games instead of looking at the stat sheet like Mort on ESPN. The Colts defense has not been severely tested to date.

First, the Indy Colts defense played the Houston Texans without Ahman Green nor Andre Johnson. Second, the Indy Colts defense played the Denver Broncos without Javon Walker. Take away the best wide receiver on any team and the watch their offensive production go down.

The Colts are far worse than last year especially on defense. Between free agency and injuries, the following summarizes the Colts defensive losses:

Anthony McFarland, DT (injured reserve)
Rob Morris, LB (injured reserve)
Cato June, LB (free agency)
Nick Harper, CB (free agency)
Jason David, CB (free agency)

Finally, the Colts have no depth at running back after Joseph Addai.

two of the 4 colts victories had a big part of manning going after his former cornerbacks harper and david. I think indy doesnt miss them much..they are bad.

I love colts fans. Seriously. The Saints are terrible. The titans are a decent team they BARLEY beat by two points. The Texans only lost to them by six minus there running game and star wr. Wow watch out for those injury riddled Texans!

The dolts beat the broncos without there best wr in Walker, no Lynch, and there horrid run defense. Colts fans are completely delusional. Let me know when the colts play a team without injury's at the big time positions. The colts are talking like the Texans and the Titans are the best teams in the league. The AFC south is vastly overrated and it will be proven by mid season.

Yea watch out , what a big time schedule

LOL, why don't YOU watch the games, instead of ripping off a few lines from an injury report.

Colts have been smacking folks in the mouth, as evidenced by their number of forced fumbles.
In addition, Colts have 5 picks this year, four by the "new guys.

And as the pevious poster stated, look how Manning feasted on those CB's we lost.

So what? The Saints are HORRIBLE. Check out that big time Saints defense. The texans played you without there star wr and entire running game. The TEXANS. The colts didn't smack the titans in the mouth. It was the other way around. The colts barley beat the titans , who are a decent team , but nothing special.

The Broncos ran the ball all over you. Had they had some form of run d , Lynch and there best wr it might have been an actual game. Smacked in the mouth. Half the frekin colts roster was injured during the game.

Colts = overrated

You know, at the beginning of the season, it was obvious that NE had a more difficult schedule, but to date, it appears as though the situation has been reversed.

Currently, your SOS is 25, Colts 17.

Not the end all be all, but however you slice it, the numbers don't lie.

SD has rolled over. The East is the absolute least. And the Bungles are Bungaling.

Sleep well.

you mean like when the Colts lost harrison last week in the 1st quarter and still put 38 on the broncos?

Break out the stats all you like. The titans are a solid team. They almost beat you. They smacked YOU in the mouth. They should have won that game. The titans are nothing more then a solid team.

The texans played you minus there best wr , and there entire running game. Are you saying the colts should not beat a team minus there weapons? Texans game = a gimme. There previous stats don't mean jack in that game, none of there play makers played:rolleyes:

The saints are horrid. Nuff said.

Denver smacked you in the mouth. Half the colts roster was injured in that game. The broncs are not as physical as the pats or the steelers. They have no run d and played you minus there best wr and lynch. The ran the ball ALL over you.

Colts fans talk like they have this big time schedule. Fact is you played all these teams when they had big time injury's to there best players. Thats and these teams are just not that great.

Can't defend the fact that the Colts opponents (especially Houston and Denver) have been severely shorthanded this year. You are in complete denial.

As for smacking folks in the mouth, the Patriots have a far superior defense than the lame Colts defense, especially with two of its best players yet to play a game this season.

Titans were very physical this is true, yet we came out of that contest healthy. We withstood the fury, MITCH! In addition, we forced 2 fumbles, Titans 1. We sacked the MOBILE VY 3 times, TN sacked our pocket passer twice. ENDED THAT GAME ON A SACK.

CHECK

Texans were down 17, Colts went to prevent, and Texans took 8 minutes on dink and dunks to score. ENDED THAT GAME ON A SACK.

CHECK

Donks are notoriously good running team, but we shored it up second half. "Had they had some sort of run D". Are you kidding? That's what your coming with?? That's like saying had they scored more points, they would have won. WTF?? Denver didn't particularly hit hard, sometimes guys are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And with Bob, he preobably injured himself due to a hit that he delivered, not received. ENDED THAT GAME ON A SACK.

Well, geez, tipmaster, according to you, it's the Colts who have been "severely short handed this year" RIGHT??

You gotta have guys to step in. Marvin went down, others stepped up. Addai, Morris, Utecht, Sanders, thay all went down, yet we broke it open AFTER they were out.

colts rushing defensive problems are vastly overrated IMO. For them 200 yards rushing by an opponent is okay as long as they give up only FG's . Which is what happened with denver.
That is why when the pats play them, they dont concentrate on ball control by running the ball 40 times. They concentrate on scoring by going for it on 4th and 2 and 4th and 3. Without scoring TD's you are going to lose to them.
The media and analysts just keep harping about their bad rush defense but dont see the end result of how many teams end up kicking Field Goals.

Treading on the grave of a fallen Broncos cornerback. Shame on you.

The Colts only lost one offensive player since the start of this season for what, two to three quarters last week. The Colts have not been shorthanded offensively this season except for portions of the Denver Broncos game. Stop posting lies and falsehoods on the New England Patriots message board.

He Ban Me = a complete football idiot

What an excuse. The point was that the titans are not a great football team. They smacked the colts around. Teh colts where lucky they won by two points. That is the only quality team the colts have played thus far , and they barley won.

Keep making excuses about how the texans moved the ball on your prevent defense. Fact is you played the Texans minus there star wr and running game. Are you telling me the Texans are a good team minus there star offensive players? Typical colts fan. The Texans are jus not very good. I forgot they are one of the best teams in the NFL according to colts fans. Even without there wr's and rb's.

You got run all over then forced the donks to the air. Again they are missing there number 1 wr and playing a rather new qb. They have no Lynch on d and no run d. I would think you should beat a team like that. The Broncs beat up the colts.Thats why there was injuries. Sanders is a china doll. I hope he keeps playing the way he does, he will be out of football sooner then later. The hitman is a injury machine. All he does is miss tackles these days

The Colts are very very good, Manning is on a roll. Their offense is so good it places enormous pressure on opponents and makes up for deficiencies in other units.

I like the Patriots depth better but lets see what the teams look like in January. Remember last year in the AFC championship Seymour went down early, no Harrison, no Seau, no Wilson. Injuries can and will impact the rating below. In the play-offs it is not about who is better, it is about who plays better and who is healthy.

The way I see it, after 4 games.

2006 versus 2007 Colts
Colts Offense - same or better, superior level, top of the league (10 out of 10)
Colts Defense - maybe a little better with less depth, at the end of last year the Colts played effective defense (and that is all they need), league average or slightly better (7 out of 10)
Colts Special Teams - about the same, league average or worse (5 out of 10)
Total 22 / 30

2006 versus 2007 Patriots
Patriots Offense - vastly improved, superior level (9 out of 10)
Patriots defense - better than last year, top 5 in league (8 out of 10)
Patriots Special Teams - slightly better with Hobbs returning kicks, league average or better (7 out of 10)
Total 24 out of 30

No.

Last year they had a better OLine and a lot more depth in their defense. With all the defections this summer, they are thin if injuries occur (which are already starting).

I've been very impressed with Addai. The Maroney vs. Addai debate is dead for the time being.

Maybe we should be discussing Addai versus Morris.

They are better ... Dingy says so

Would love to have McFarland, but Johnson had been filling in nicely.

Morris is a casualty as of last week

Keiaho is more than ample replacement for June (just because June was Brady's favorite receiver last year doesn't make June an All Pro)

David- Are you kidding??

Harper would be nice to have, but in the end, I'll take Jackson and Hayden over Harper and David.

I agree with this assessment. Your corners look big and physical and are quick in a short area. Keiaho is stout against the run. But, without Sanders, I think it all falls apart.

I wonder, how will your corners fare against Moss? Not well if you don't get tons of pressure on Brady. Although the same can be said for us.
