I just look at what the Steelers are dealing with now. Boswell sucks (and it’s year 1 into a 5 year 20 mil extension). Now they’ve shut him down and signed a new kicker for the rest of the season.
Gostkowski's AAV has been only $100k more than Boswell's

Has he missed a few crucial kicks? Yes. He’s also converted crucial kicks at a higher than expected rate if you go by recent kicking averages. He’s had far more “big game” kicks than the average kicker due to the Pats success so he has a significant sample size, a lot of these “equal or better” kickers have a very limited “big moment” data set so its easy for them to look good by comparison.
All of that said, the switch from Vinatieri to Gostkowski (2006) roughly coincided with Tom Brady becoming TFB (2007). As a result, Gostkowski has rarely had the chance to make the high-leverage kicks Vinatieri did.
But our kicker seems to miss fg and xp in the biggest of games....

He's the kicker version of Peyton Manning (and gave that choker another ring in 2015).
Thank goodness he missed the xp in Super Bowl 51. Don't need numbnuts blowing their chances at a comeback.
He also lost us home field at Miami this year. Although to be fair, the same can be said about Brady and the 10 defenders + Gronk on the field at the end of regulation, plus the entire coaching staff...

The last part said it all. Up 5 the defense (and the defensive alignment they were in) blew the game. They should’ve known an injured tanny couldn’t get the ball 70 yards downfield.
I remember him missing an xp in the super bowl.......indoors...Ghost in the playoffs (25 games)
