on the roster spot as camp breaks?

Or is he going to end up at safety?

Pioli said he will be a saftey but will play some nickel as a rookie.

Meriweather will be the starting FS by the end of the year. interesting that the ESPN draft mag compared him to Eugene Wilson, while sporting news compared him to Ed Reed. I love Wilson (at least for his first 2 years0 but hope sporting news is right.

They said he is a Saftey with coverage skills, Not a CB.
there is no way he ends up at CB.

only way he ends up at CB is if injuries occur

Exactly...his skill sets will put him at safety. Of course being on the pats he might catch a touchdown from TB this year, but primarily at safety

They compare a lot of prospets to current players. They are wrong most of the time. ESPN is a joke imo.

do you think they bulk him up 10 lbs or so to play around 203-205 lbs?

Saftey?

What about Safety?

No they (Pioli on Patriots News)already said he's not a CB, he will play safety and cover RB's and TE's and occasionally slot WR's.

Safety. I personally asked Dean Peas myself.

Not joking here.

When Wilson was healthy they had him cover the slot receiver rather than go to the nickel and get out of their base D. I expect him to be used the same way.

If Wilson returns to form, I expect Merriweather to play the in the nickel as a CB.

he will play S and if wilson is 100% he will back him up and be a good ST player

I think Meriweather's highest and best use is at Safety but he is versatile. Also,#96 has played Safety before but again that's probably not his best spot so in the end both these guys will probably stay at their intended positions most of the time but both have the ability to mix it up,too.
If Asante gets his bad self out there,I like Meriweather and AD right where they belong, exception being if BB occasionally mixes things up just for fun.
If Asante sits (another topic) how would that affect this,or will it?

What Dean Peas actually said about Meriweather was that he is a Safety with CB ability. Peas said Meriweather will play Safety, but they will use him at CB in certain situations. One of the situations he talked about was putting him one-on-one against TE's. Peas also said having Meriweather at Safety will allow them to move other players around. That made me think of Eugene, and I think they are planning on using Eugene as more of a CB this year.

Yes, Meriweather is a lean 195lbs. Everyone with any knowledge of his build says Meriweather has the frame to carry another 10-15lbs without it effecting his timed speed. If you watched him weigh in at the combine his body didn't look at bulked up.

He looked like an every man.

No amounts of crazy muscle or definition just a solid build.

I could see him weighing easily 210 and still play at the same speed he is now.

Meriweather will be whatever BB and Peas want him to be.......thats how much of a beast this guy is

In regards to Griffin converting to a cornerback (which Im sure prompted this thread), if the Titans wanted a cornerback why didnt they just draft Ross??

I don't see him getting time at CB. if they need to move a safety to CB Wilson will go first.
