Anyone feel Pierre Thomas is worth the second round tender?

Mentioned that a few weeks back. He'd be a better option than Morris, and possibly Taylor.

Bell would fit well.

I don't really want Taylor back anyway. Couldn't stay healthy last year while playing in a committee.

i do like pierre, but when you think about it, is it worth it considering we still have maroney? maybe if we could trade maroney for a 3rd itd be worth it

Trade Maroney for 3rd what ? A third string QB ? Sure, all for it.

Other RBs of note:

Jerome Harrison - 2nd
Jerrious Norwood - 2nd
Mike Bell - Low Tender
Justin Fargas - UFA

Depending on how reasonable the contract is, I'd give up our 2 for Pierre Thomas. Runs hard, good quickness, catches the ball well, young and without much mileage on him. Underrated back and I don't think the odds are too good of us finding anyone better than him with our 2nd rounder.

He'd have to agree to a contract that favors the Pats just to get his pay day quicker and an every down back role, and you either poison pill the contract or let the Saints know a poison pill is coming unless they accept a 2nd+7th a la Welker.

Have you seen the 2nd round RBs that have been drafted in the past 2 years?

LeSean McCoy - now starting in Phila
Shonn Greene (first pick in the 3rd round) - now starting in NY
Matt Forte - starting in Chicago
Ray Rice - starting in Balt

Are you still going to tell me you would give up a 2nd for Pierre Thomas?

And we don't have RBBC?

Nixing this idea because the Saints have a RB trio is crazy.

2nd round you try to get a full time starter not a rbbc player who might get 100-125 rushes. also now you are going to sign him to say a 20million contract with 9-11 million gaurteed to do what?

Yes, I would. Rice is the only one I'd take over Thomas in that group.

I'd definitely give up the 2 for Thomas, but the problem would be a 2 plus a possible big contract. If you could get him for reasonable money like we did with Welker, I think it's worth it and I think Thomas would have a big season as an every down back. If the contract starts getting too pricey, I'd keep the pick.

I wouldn't give up a 2nd round pick in this year's draft. No way, it's too deep to give up that valuable of a pick.

However if the Saints would take Maroney and a 4th for Thomas, I'd pull the trigger on that deal.

Another thought would be to offer Adalius Thomas for Pierre Thomas and see what more we'd need to throw in to make it happen. The Saints do need pass rush help, don't they?
