Anybody noticed the Ryan Bros?

Gave up the most points in the league this year, and third most in the NFC last year, third most in the NFC the year before that with Dallas. He hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire.

And, in 2013, he led a N.O. defense that finished 4th in points allowed, 4th in yards allowed and 2nd in passing yards allowed, when it had finished 31st, 32nd and 31st the year before. To say that his defenses always suck is incorrect, as I noted. He's had good, meh and crap defenses, which is no surprise given the teams for which he's been d-coordinator.

I heard at least one report saying that Toesucker got the ultimatum to win next year or be fired and decided that if he was going to work under such conditions he might as well get his brother a paycheck while he still can. I would normally call BS to this but hey we've seen stranger things, no? Meanwhile Buffalo already has a DC who has to be feeling pretty uncomfortable...

It could be as simple as the fact that he realizes that his butt is on the line and is doing everything that he can to keep his job. Since his brother was previously unemployed, it only seems natural to want to have him on his staff. It probably can't hurt.

Rex's main problem is the fact that he can't keep his big mouth shut, and that he regressed defensively, but I don't think his 8-8 record this year should be seen as a major failure, either. Perhaps I am just too patient and tend to believe that it takes a couple/few years to get the right players for your scheme, etc.

Just more comedy for Buffalo next year. The overpriced defense isn't going to be worlds better with Rob calling the plays.

Yeah, Rob Ryan hasn't coached a really good defense since 2006 with the Raiders.

I agree with your overall thoughts, but I also think there's plenty of room for improvement regarding their defense. The bar was set pretty low this year.

Also, they're rumored to be parting with M.Williams, so that should free up some extra cash as well. Or...the dumbasses could simply go back to using him how they were before, but that's not likely.

Half their starting o-line are free agents in a few months. Most of the money saved from Williams will go to Cordy Glenn. And the Bills are currently over the projected 2016 cap.

Either way, they'll wheel and deal just like any other team, and they'll manage to free up some money and have some additional new players/draft picks.

I'd find it hard to imagine that the Bills defense will regress upon their miserable 2015 effort, but then again, I haven't looked at all of the numbers and stats either. Hopefully, it's the usual trainwreck that we're accustomed to seeing in Buffalo.
