no, One of the bills players kicked it out of bounds that means its a safety i think.

If he did fumble before breaking the plane, I think you are correct it would have been ruled a safety because of the impetus out of bounds through the end zone by the Bills player.

I definitely was, I knew it should be a touchdown but the review took forever so I was trying to thinks what excuse are they going to use this time.

I believe the ref said the call was confirmed by replay, so that's ironclad. It looked to me on replay that the nose of the ball barely touched the goal line just before he lost control of it. I understand what Blount was doing but it was a bit sloppy on his part.

Yeah, he sucked on that run and by then I'd about had it with his BS...

Would have sucked if it was overturned but thank god the initial call was TD. Always makes it easier because of the stiffer standard for overturning.

He wasn't touched until after the ball was out so the knee being down wouldn't have mattered. CBS never showed a replay that definitely showed he had possession after breaking the goal line so I was nervous.

There was plenty of contact between him and the defender before he went down, I thought -- Blount was initiating a lot of it, but I don't think that matters. I actually thought he was down rather than a TD.

I was wondering about that -- what are the criteria for determining whether or not contact with a defender is "downable" contact.

For example, I'd expect we'd all agree that if a defender grabs a ballcarrier's legs, but the ballcarrier breaks free but then goes down a step or two later then that's a tackle. Likewise, if the ballcarrier breaks free, runs another 30 yards and then falls, he's not down by contact.

So what's the dividing line?

In this case, I thought Blount was losing his balance because of his efforts to fend off the tackler, which I'd think would have to be attributed to the defensive player if / when Blount's knees hit

I had this question, too. I suspect the ref is supposed to determine if the runner ever regained his balance after having been hit by the defender. Technically, that would mean that a runner could be down at the 1 by contact made at the other goal line.
