I'm hoping this can be a fun activity. For now, it'll be after wins only.

Here's how it'll go:
1. In this thread, name your Patriot of the Week and up to 5 honorable mentions. You can base this on whatever criteria you choose.
2. Any player or coach who was at the game is eligible.
3. Your ballot must have at least one person who is not an offensive skill player [QB, WR, RB, or TE].
4. You can provide justifications/explanations, but that is not required.
5. You do not need to rank your honorable mentions, though you can if you want.
6. Voting will remain open for 72 hours. You can edit your votes until it closes.

Scoring will be simple:
1. 2 points for each Patriot of the Week vote, 1 point for each honorable mention vote. [If you list more than 5 HMs, only the first five will count.]
2. High score wins. Ties will not be broken; there can be multiple winners.

Patriot of the Week:
Bryce Baringer, and honestly it's not close. Dude saved their ass all game long, continuing his team MVP form from last year.

Honorable Mention
s:
Drake Maye
Rhamondre Stevenson
Christian Barmore
Harold Landry
Milton Williams

Extra Honorable Mention not receiving a vote:

K'Lavon Chiasson

Patriot of Week 2:

Drake Maye - answered the bell and played a hell of a game after being questioned last week. The play to R. Stevenson for over 50 yds was special, a play only a handful of QBs in the league could make.

Honourable Mention:

R. Stevenson - ran angry and played a great game
W. Campbell - quieting the doubters
A. Gibson - immediately answered the Phins ST return
M. Williams - closed the game
Josh McDaniels - top tier play calling by Josh

Drake Maye
------
Milton Williams
Christian Barmore
Carlton Davis
Will Campbell
Rhamondre Stevenson

Also Diggs didn't blow up the stat sheet but was automatic with clutch conversions on key drives.

I have to call out the Bryce Baringer disrespect already. Dude hit two bombs from the back line of the endzone. 3 really, the first one got called back.

PotW: Maye. 19/23 for 230, no turnovers, 2 TDs and 1 on the ground. No bonehead plays.

Honorables:

Milton Williams: That sack is why he's here.
Rham: Nice overall game.
Gibby: Picked the right time to answer. Stopped the momentum shift.
Barmore: Any dude that comes back after getting kneed in the nuts deserves an honorable mention.
Jay'linn Hawkins: Tied for the team lead in tackles, got hosed out of an INT by a flag.

Player of the Week:
Antonio Gibson - The 90 yard KO Return quite literally saved the game. It turned the momentum of the game around, which had swung in Miamis favor with that PR td.

Honorable Mentions
Milton Williams: The Sack that Iced the Game. Perfect timing, saved the game from heading into OT when you could see the D was gassed. Big time play.

Rhamondre Stevenson: I had written him off, and this week he surprised. He was a spark for the Offense and most importantly did not put the ball on the ground.

Will Campbell/Jared Wilson: The two rookies have solidified the left side of the line. After Two early penalties (1 each) they settled down and played a solid game.

Marte Mapu: The Interception was a heads up play. And better yet the ensuing drive lead to points. Transitioning to a new position is never easy, good to see him adapting well.

Drake Maye: First signature win of his career. Was precise, didn't make stupid mistakes and most importantly, no Ints. As he continues to get more familiar with Josh McDaniels Offensive concepts, the sky is the limit for him.

Patriot of the Week:
Drake Maye

Honorable Mentions:
Bryce Barringer
Milton Williams
Rhamondre Stevenson
Will Campbell
Antonio Gibson

Difficult to omit Hawkins, Landry and Barmore, but five is the limit.

I initially chose Barringer, but the reality is he touches the ball five times: two punts and three holds. Conversely the quarterback is an integral part of 36 plays (dropbacks and runs), not including handoffs. 19-23, 3 total TD, zero turnovers, 137.3 passer rating. That type of a day is nearly always going to be a win.

Drake Maye and it's not even close, despite all the honorable mentions.

When the game was on the line, the OL didn't really do their job, but he made something out of nothing, not once but at LEAST twice.

He again spread the ball to multiple receivers (9 this game) and stretches the field enough, without taking too many big risks. Much of this is because he DOES trust multiple receivers, which is HUGE (as good as Brady was, he wouldn't throw to a lot of guys because he didn't trust them.)

Josh and Vrabel giving Stevenson a chance to reclaim his 2022 receiving mojo is HUGE and will tell Ds that any of our RBs are potential receivers on a given play. Green Bay has a similar offensive scheme, spreading the field and as we've seen can be tough to stop.

And boy, out of a bad D overall Landry and Barmore had some great plays too. But when you let the Dolphins score that much, and you leave that many FG and extra points on the table, you're going to lose more games than you win.

I'm mindful that next offseason, after a credible 2025 behind us, we'll be able to attract some better free agents for the OL, and can further upgrade the D - but I tend to think that the D will come around. This time of year offenses have a big advantage and as there's more film and more real game time, Ds seem to gel, hopefully peaking as a team goes into the playoffs.

So Maye gets my POW

Stevenson, Landry, Barmore, Gibson and Williams round out my honorables

Player of the week: Rhamondre Stevenson. Ran well all game, showed great hands on his 58 yard open field catch and run. Ball security was solid all game.

Honorable Mentions:

1. Milton Williams. Sack to secure the win was eye catching, but 3 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 2 TFL while slugging it out all day in the trenches deserves recognition.

2. Antonio Gibson. Momentum changing 90 yard KO return for TD.

3. Marte Mapu. INT helped seal the game. Resulting FG forced MIA to play for TD not FG to tie.

4. Will Campbell/Jared Wilson. Pair of rookies played thirty one snaps, allowed no pressures.

5. Mack Hollins. Opened the scoring. One touch, one TD. High percentage success rate.

Non-scored Honorable Mention:

6. Bryce Baringer. Boomer! But outkicking coverage contributed to TD return.

I just can’t give special recognition to Drake Maye for just doing his job. I’d rate him “meets expectations” on a performance review, not enough to merit “exceeds”.

Here's the thing on that.

In NORMAL circumstances, yes. Outkicking the coverage is bad. It's a different animal completely when the coverage team KNOWS the punt is going to at least attempt to be bombed as far as possible, which is exactly the situation when you've got your heels on the back line of the endzone.

Schooler clearly knew that, and missed the tackle, if he makes it, it's a 5 yard return. Woods clearly didn't get the memo, and blew his tackle even after being late getting down on the coverage. And Baringer damn near got the tackle on that, but the plan in that particular situation is to 'outkick the coverage', and he still got enough hang time on it for Schooler to get down there.

Player of the Game: Jaylinn Hawkins - 8 tackles, 5 Solo

Honorable Mention: Rhamondre, Drake, Milton Williams, Baringer and Borregales for bouncing back from the early XP misses to nail the FGs.

What am I missing with Hawkins? I think I saw someone else suggest him and this tackle numbers actually look good. But everytime I notice him he seems to be a few yards away from the player making the catch.

The weird thing is 2 years in a row I thought he looked decent in training camp but then I don't see it during the games. This year is obviously only 2 games so far and you're not the first poster I've seen write something nice about him so I guess I need to give him a 3rd chance.

Borregales? Huh? Is it that charming smile has got you happy?

Player of the week: Drake. Sometimes you go with the obvious because it's, well, obvious.

HM:

Rhamondre... though I'll believe it when I see it on a regular basis. At no point has he really been a paragon of consistency, and that is a necessary quality in an every down/early down back. Sometimes he looks like a world-beater; sometimes he looks like Lawrence Maroney or a guy doing the Icky Shuffle.

Campbell. I think he's probably already an average LT, which is a significant accomplishment not, I think, widely expected so early. LT is such a tough position that just being a guy who doesn't screw up on a regular basis gets you under consideration for "average" status. I'm assuming the false start thing will get better with time. "Hi, sailor, my name is Pollyanna."

The other players who might qualify had mostly just one, maybe two, flashes, but nothing sustained worthy of HM.

Rhamondre - He was the engine on the offense.

HM

Drake- He was super. TD to Boutte and the big play to Rahm were big time throws. Only not player or the week because it was 50/50 with Rahm and it can’t be the QB every week.

Gibson- Return was the single biggest play of the game.

Milton - He’s been fantastic. Miami had no answer for him. Last sack on Tua was something I’ve been waiting a decade to see on the defense.

OL rookies - They were lights out. Have Miami nothing

Boutte - Because Miami game planned for him. And I can’t remember the last WR we had that anyone game planned for.

Great thread idea @ctpatsfan77!

Player of week: drake answered the bell after shaky start last week. We all feel better (well, most of us)

Honorable

Rham - a hair behind drake. Reminded us what "good rham" looks like

Campbell: phew

gibson saved the game

Milton - iced the game

Barringer. Boomers, wow!

Very good points. I hesitated a bit on that because of the initial contact, but thought that it seemed the coverage unit had all converged on where the ball landed and left a lot of open space on the other side of the field. Wasn’t entirely sure but thought that the extra depth and time on the kick may have eroded lane discipline and made it easier for the returner to turn the corner once he bounced away from the missed tackles. Schooler and Woods both missing their attempts to tackle was key, of course.

I'm too lazy to see if anybody beat me to the joke but...

Is Tom still eligible?

I’ll go Rham as player of the week.

Also in the news :
Baringer
Maye
Williams
Gibson
