Amendola Iffy for Thursday

Wait....dowling actually came back on the field today? No lie? I give it 3 weeks MAX until he is hurt again

And then Amendola will magically return! I'm not normally into conspiracy theories....

That's why I said in the other thread that he may not play on Thursday.

I mean, today is Monday and he missed it, so I think it's only natural to assume that he may not take part in a preseason game that's 72 hrs later.

As long as he ends up being okay I don't think it matters one bit. It would point to just being cautious.

Good. Put Boyce in the slot. I want to see how that plays out.

I want to see lots of Boyce, Dobson and Thompkins thursday. Thursday will tell us if Thompkins beats out Dobson IMO

We saw Amendola on the sideline chatting with Brady after he was pulled. If he was injured in any way that would have kept him out a real game, he wouldn't be on the sidelines.

This is probably a case of a minor injury and rather rest him and give the rookies a chance to catch some balls rather than anything that would normally sideline him.

My guess is if this was the regular season, he would be listed as probable or at worst questionable and play during the game.

Even Wes Welker was held out of preseason games as precautions from time to time.

If, If, IF Belichick did indeed plan on resting Amendola after the 2nd pre-season game, it makes sense that he was targeted almost exclusively by Brady.

And I agree with putting Boyce in the slot for this game. The other rooks on the outside. A little bonding with #12.

I think it still may be resting but that's a unusual amount of rest if that's the case

Nobody rests that long without at least a minor injury. Especially not a WR trying to learn a new system with a new quarterback. Oh well. Came with the territory when the Pats signed him. Hopefully it isn't something that lingers, like a high ankle sprain, for example.

we can only hope...but more rookies can now get some more time with Brady as they will all play into half time thursday

Oh just STOP!!!!!

You all KNOW what Thursday means....Brady rests because of the short time between the last game and Thursday...Amendola out.....it's definitely TEBOW TIME!!!...

and I can tell all of you NOW , that I have heard back from the NFLN and they bought my lead in for 6 figures...yes, my blessed fellow Pats fans....Thursday Night is NOW being billed as......trumpets blare...

"The Christian vs. the Lions"

make sure you bring plenty of bar-b-cue sauce for the T-Ribs...:ban:

Here is Albert Breer's latest Tweet on Amendola:

To clarify on what I reported earlier on Amendola -- They gave him a rest day today. Pats will be careful, idea is to get him playing 16.

and this:

... Which is to say, whatever the nick was, it's minor. And coaches have seen plenty of him already in preseason. They know what they have.

Sounds like Amendola is fine, but the Pats would rather let him rest than risk him getting hurt for a long period of time. He looks like he is on a preseason pitch count.

Sounds like he is hurt...but only minor and keeping him out as precaution as we all know he gets hurt alot...don't need anything else to pop up

I knew this all along...the Detroit game, with the way that bunch of tarded rejects plays in preseason at home, is a good venue for the entire 2nd and 3rd string. The 2011 preseason those scumbags tried to kill Brady deliberately hitting him low and well after the whistle at least 5 times. Screw Detroit and their two braincelled fanbase, use the 4th preseason to fine tune.

This has me thinking if Amendola is ever unable to go during the first few weeks (not unrealistic), it is entirely possible that Brady's #1 thru #3 WR and #1 receiving TE for a game could be rookies.

That would be amazing!

Young team that's for sure...i do like it however. Those young WRs look pretty good so far

"...the first few weeks..."? The first game is 3 weeks away, and you think it's not unrealistic that he'll be out a few more weeks on top of that? What condition do you think he has that will keep him sidelined for 7 weeks?

That's all he needs to make the roster.

Great he is a jr welker, hopefully he recovers fast and is back for a few play against the giants.

I said "if Amendola is ever unable to go during the first few weeks" as in he gets injured during one of the first couple of games. Basically, I was imagining a scenario where Amendola was out for a game before Gronk comes back. Brady and a bunch of rookies would be pretty amazing.

As for what condition he could have? I don't think he is injured right now. But I also think he and Dowling may be the same person, so all bets are off.

And it begins. Danny "I play half a season" Amendola. Just ******* great. Funny thing was he looked great.

Always blow your wad that quick?

Yes, yes and yes. Not a fan of Suh and co. With all the injuries around the league, I have no problem with this. Hell, play the 2nd and 3rd's and wrap em' in bubble wrap. I'm sick of petering out late in the season. Screw the preseason.

I think Danny is fine. Just a rest day to prevent any damage if he got a little nick.
