The Pats must have been one of the most heavily scouted teams.
Per jason LaConfora:

12 teams put in claims on the 5 players who were claimed today. IND,NYJ, CIN, and TB all put more than 1 claim in.

Lee Smith - Had 5 claims
Thomas Austin - had 4 claims
Brandon Tate - 2 claims
Landon Cohen
Will Yeatman

I think I read somewhere that Yeatman had 6 different teams put claims in, put I can't find that..

If I am reading this correctly there could be only 1 claim on Yeatman because LaCanfora said 5 guys had 12 claims and you listed the other 4 and 11.
Something is wrong here though because Shefter said Cincy, NYJ and Az all claimed Tate.

I don't understand how out of all the players that were released, including BM (excluding Sanders), that we couldn't even get a seventh round conditional pick. I guess they held out the hope that they would clear waivers.

As for Yeatman, I thought Reiss originally reported that he made it to our PS (which would indicate little interest). But I'm not 100% as to the timing of this process.

I wonder who Indy tried to claim...hmm

Re: Amazing Stat...

I think we all knew this team had some of the deepest talent in the league outside of the players who were a lock and whoever we cut had a chance to start on most teams, especially
perrenial division bottom dwellers.

Cincinnati, Buffalo and probably Seattle are just that....bottom division dwellers

Patriots didn't put a claim in on anybody (other than Aiken). Surprised by that.

and this!

Jets put waiver claims in on 7 players. That's not a good sign about their depth or recent draft classes.

I made that same claim last week a -FEW WEEKS BACK-. I had a bunch of the naysayers here yell at me for saying it to?

Re: Amazing Stat...

No question, after this year it will be hard for anybody to scoff at the "other teams will be circling for our castoffs!" talk.

How many total Patriots cuts are on other teams' active rosters right now? I can think of 8 off the top of my head, the 5 waiver claims plus Sanders, Meriweather and LeVoir.

Does Wilhite/broncos count?

Well, other than the Meriwhether cut, I don't think any of the players we cut are becoming starters.

I don't think anyone yelled at you, but people including me disagreed that guys not good enough to make our team would be starting on others. Being claimed is far different from starting. I wouldn't have disagreed that we had 5-10 guys good enough to displace players on other teams rosters, but outside of Meriwhether, (maybe) who do you think is now a starter on their new team?

Wilhite doesn't count for anything....

This, he counts. That's NINE castoffs from Pats camp on the 53 of other teams heading into week 1.

Re: Amazing Stat...

And I thought that BB had such terrible drafts, did not know what he was doing.... oh the horrors.

Re: Amazing Stat...

Maybe we drafted too many players in past two years?

Re: Amazing Stat...

The Pats almost had Yeatman signed to the practice squad when Miami made a late claim.

Wilhite is on the Broncos.
