i still can't believe hightower still hasn't resigned. come on bill

he's our best defender/leader of the defense!

Taking a longer time probably means that he's giving NE every option and that NE is really trying to get it done.

Otherwise why wouldn't he have just taken the Titans supposed deal already?

I think the fact that one of the best defenders in FA this season made it through legal tampering and nearly 24 hours of FA without a contract says that he wants the home team to win the bidding and is giving them that opportunity.

I could also be wrong and his market is just smaller than expected.

I think if HT was heavily leaning towards one side or the other we would have heard it by now through a beat writer of the Titans or the Pats.. or even from a national dude given that HT is the biggest prize left..

What do you think it's the obstacle right now? Years? Guaranteed money?

There's this thing called "time zones" you may have heard of.

His tweets were at 11:20 and 11:35 AM central time. That would be 12:20 and 12:35 eastern time. It was posted here around 1:15 PM eastern time. That's less than one hour, not two.

Twitter clocks are set to your time zone. He posted the tweet two hours ago, it says so on the tweet. It doesn't matter if he tweeted from China, Tennessee or Foxborough.

It's not that hard to understand and it's not a point worth discussing anymore.

the ****ing titans of all teams???? leaving the mighty patriots to join tennessee?

bill belichick > mike mularkey

My guess is dont they still have **** Lebeau that could be attractive

Can't picture HT in a Corny Titans uniform

The only reputable reports I have seen about Hightower and Tennessee is Ed Weder saying that Titans weren't in for the $10-$13m he was looking for and than a Titans beat guy say pretty much the same thing and then the Pats beats guys were saying Hightower was Pats next priority and that there was good communication between the team and Hightower.

Could that have changed in the last 24 hours? Sure but Titans just gave Logan Ryan a 3 year/$30m deal. So if they were as interested as much of these random sports bloggers claim don't you think the Titans would have given Hightower what he wanted right off the bat and not even leave it to chance that the Pats come back in for him

Ok, I stand corrected, as I do not have a Twitter account myself. And it is now showing as 2 hrs when I checked it out now.

That said, did my initial post really warrant a response of, "What the ...? Two hours is two hours. Oh lord." when I specifically mentioned how it was time stamped from someone in central time? A simple explanation of how Twitter's clock operated would have sufficed.

And I apologize for the snark in my prior comment.

Personally, I am not sure that years is the issue. The most logical length would be 3 years. It's good for him because it means he hits FA again before the age of 30 and it's good for the Pats because ILB gain mileage pretty quickly and he had issues with injures. And generally even the 5 year contracts are effectively only for 2-3 years in terms of guarantees.

If I'd have to guess I'd go with guarantees/incentives/injury related language. But I am curious to hear why others think it's the length.

Teams overpay. I don't think bill would go over 13. Maybe they offered him a chandler Jones type contract.

So I'm the end the Pats are not going to resign any of
Hightower
Collins
Jones
Butler

This can't suck enough

We still are real contenders for HT and Butler is still on the team.

Do you just log out of this account and onto captain stone when you wanna be a whiny little emo kid on the forums? Christ.

Lol. I'm sure hightower isn't thinking like the typical fan right now. He wants the best deal for him. Rather that's with the pats or titans.
