All quiet on Hightower front or Dont'a-do-it FA tour

Maybe he'll return. But if you can't detect the childish, passive aggressive behavior going on here . . . (talking about the other stuff not visiting other teams).
There isn't childish, passive aggressive behavior. You are psychoanalyzing and grasping at straws.

Besides, even if these visits to other teams are posturing on Hightower's part, the Patriots front office does stuff like this all the time!

e.g.
Belichick, exercising his abundance of leverage, will often go on vacation in the heat of free agency and make his take-it-or-leave-it offers from faraway beaches while other coaches are flying around the country on private jets to court players,” Klemko writes. “When prospective players visit Foxborough, they express to their agents a sense of fear, but often leave feeling as if they have just met the lone coach who understands their true purpose on a football field.”

Is it okay for Belichick to strong-arm and use leverage, but wrong for Hightower to do the same? Let's not have double standards here.

I get why fans are frustrated, But I dont get why fans are frustrated. The man is trying to do what he can do to get the maximum amount of money he can get from the patriots, and Belichick is doing what he can do to get the player at his price. 100% business moves here, let it play out.

I would just move on from HT at this point. If he wanted to be here he would have signed here. The fact that the pats are not g

He would already know what each team is offering money wise there has been plenty of time to gauge his market. He knows the Pats aren't going to up their offer they would have done so by now.

IMO I think he doesn't want to sign with New England he would have by now if he did.

It's time to move on and go with the back up plan.
To be fair, Vince Wilfork back in 2009-ish gauged interest from other teams, and took his time doing it, before coming back here.

Even Moss after 07 took a while to come back here.

I tend to be passive aggressive. I can recognize it when I see it

Who's your favorite defensive player to watch ? Jamie Collins. Seriously ???

He knows his market by now. It's ok to visit all the teams he wants. If all is equal the logic says he would have resigned in NE already. It's either he is looking for a lot more money or is just plainly looking for same money and equal fit for him to leave NE.

I just don't think he wants to be a Patriot IMO. I can't explain why I feel that way but I do.

I thought hightower had a good year this past season but he has had better years with the pats before this season stats wise. I think high believes he deserves top flight money but other teams don't think so. Bill will be patient but sooner or later he will lose it.

He would give Pittsburgh a great linebacking core.
Damnit High is pissing me off.
Does he really hate new england?

If he goes, trade JAG to cleveland for the 12th pick and take rueben foster.

My gut tells me NE's offer was nowhere near his expectations...same deal with butler.

Some folks here really need to get a grip.

Why is he visiting other teams? Because he's doing due diligence and SHOULD.

Another reason: it's fun. He's getting wined and dined. Teams are fawning over him and telling him good things to try to lure him away. It's not an unenjoyable situation to be in.

Let the guy have his moment. In the end, with him and Butler, the choice is for the Patriots to make,a s both would like to stay, but neither wants to look like a chump who didn't explore all options.

Why would we move on from Hightower when he is holding up the linebacker market anyways?

The strange thing is that it sounds like the Patriots have the best offer on the table and no one is beating it. Imo pride is playing a big role in this, I'm guessing he was expecting 60+ for 5 and the Patriots went 40 for 4, and no one else wants to go for 5. That's a huge cut on his expectations and I'm sure it is taking some getting used to. Pity loves linebackers but they just tagged Bell and paid huge money to Brown so I have a hard time seeing them being high bidder for Hightower. However if they are close he could give the Patriots both middle fingers and sign.

I'm at the point where I just don't care enough anymore to look for regular updates about Hightower. It's now in the "dog and pony show" stages. I f**kng hate dog and pony shows. No team is willing to give him what he thought he is worth. No team that actually called his agent were interested enough to even give him $10m. Pats clearly at this point offered him the highest deal and his ego is hurt because for 6 months he though the Pats undervalued him when they gave him the $10m per offer. Even the teams having him in think he'll end up re-signing, so ya of course they'll pitch with the off chance he actually decides to sign. But his ego is hurt and he's too prideful to at the point go back to the Pats and accept the deal, he is hoping some team offers him just a little more so he can take that back to the Pats. Like I said strap in because this isn't ending anytime soon, especially not in the next few days if he can't fly to Pittsburgh until Tuesday or Wednesday.
