Patriots' Alfonzo Dennard gets second continuance - espnBoston

The hearing had previously been pushed back to Nov. 13, next Wednesday, but Dennard once again received a continuance and the hearing is now scheduled to be held on Dec. 6.

Just one or two more continuances and he's good for the rest of the season.

He's good but sure as hell not top 15. All I can measure is that he plays way better on the outside than Kyle Arrington.

He's the best #2 CB in the league. He's better than Browner IMO.

Or the judge is a Pats hater and sends him away for ninety days just in time for the playoffs.

That BR article has Talib at 41...

That’s was last season’s ranks though. I only posted it had more than 10 or 20 corners on it unlike most of the other ranks.

He certainly doesn’t Dennard is one of the most physical CB’s in the NFL in my opinion.
People always think of a CB like Sherman as the big physical CB’s in the NFL but in reality Sherman is 6’3 195 Lbs. and Alfonzo Dennard is 5’10 204 Lbs. So yes Dennard is not a tall CB but he is a big CB, weighing 204 Lbs. at his height indicates a very well put together player who probably has more physical strength than a player like Sherman who is 5 inches taller but 9 Lbs. lighter.

Some "Pats fan" tried telling me that Dennard is a better DB for us than McCourty

It's interesting that people are saying Dennard isn't a top 15 Cornerback yet fail to attach a list of Cornerbacks who have been better than him through Week 10 this season.

Dennard has improved tremendously this season. If he's not in the top 15, he's definitely close. I am hopeful the Patriots have Talib, Dennard and McCourty as 3 of the 4 Secondary starters for years to come. Those three have been tremendous this season.

It's pretty hard to judge a CB even when you watch them all the time on TV. I can't rank him vs. other DBs I don't get to see play very often.

I can compare him to what we've had at the position over the last 6 years, though, and in that group I'd put him in the top 3 after McCourty and Talib.

That sort of goes both ways, the OP actually asserted that Dennard was a top 15 CB without attaching a list. I agree with you that Dennard has improved significantly over a very impressive rookie campaign. For me I am apprehensive to call him a top 15 CB because that would say he is better than at least 17 other teams #1 CB and that is a difficult judgment to make when Dennard is not matched up with the same level of receiver as those 17 or more #1’s on the other teams.

I am extremely hopeful that we get to see a secondary of Talib, McCourty and Dennard for the next half of decade as well, I also hope to see either Wilson or Harmon develop into a solid starter to fill out the secondary, along with my belief that Ryan will overtake Arrington as the nickel CB before week 1 of 2014.

IMO I think he's a top 35.

He would be a number 1 on maybe 1 or 2 teams but IMO would sat for all maybe bar 1 or 2 teams i.e Seattle.

I think he has the potential to grow into a number 1 tho.

Quick one all obviously IMO:

Revis, Sherman, Hayden, Flowers, Cromartie, Talib, McCourty J, McCourty D, Verner, Peterson, Tillman, Browner, Vontae Davis, Hall, Jenkins, Joseph, Samuel, DeAngelo Hall, Earl Thomas and Jennings.

That's 20 but you could argue 5 boarderline for and probs another 5+ that I have left out.

It's pretty subjective but I think in broad strokes I am very happy with having Dennard on this team.

Dennard would look even better if DMC would help him out once in a while. It's like whenever dennard gets beat dmc doesn't even try run and help him.

What other safetys would let both receiver and cornerback run 15 yards pass them?

Of that list I would only say Sherman, Tillman, Flowers, Peterson, Talib and Hall could have arguments made for them being quantifiably better than Dennard in 2013. You've thrown in a few Safeties for good measure. I wouldn't include them in a discussion regarding Corners. This season, I'm not sure I would say Revis (even though I believe he's the best CB in the NFL) has been better than Dennard.

I have little time for Browner. He is ridiculously overrated because he's a member of the Seahawks Secondary. Really, those thumpers are well represented because of Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman. Browner is a good player but he's not a great player like Sherman and Thomas.

Personally, I can see the argument for Dennard being a top 20 Cornerback in the NFL. Naturally, you can make the same argument for the seasons of guys like Darius Butler, Keenan Lewis, DRC etc.

I'd agree with many on your list. Earl Thomas is a safety though, so we can cross him off immediately.

Dennard seems to be progressing very nicely though, especially without a sophomore slump like we've seen plenty of times throughout the years. I think he could crack the top 20 list by next year if he keeps up this kind of play. It's great to see a reasonable CB on both sides for a change, huh?

Care less about where anybody ranks him. What I care about is the crucial plays he makes in close games down the wire when we need plays to be made. This season alone, he has batted balls away at the most critical moment of the game when we needed someone to make a play in the backfield.

I hate to hold this against him, but he's too short to be top 15

Yeah, so is Drew Brees, Wes Welker, and Maurice Jones-Drew to be top 15 at their positions.

Too bad Jesus was only 5'7", if you believe the Shroud of Turn, or he could have been a top 15 God.
