Addai's excellent performance fires up Maroney

It is still too early to get worked up about Addai versus Maroney. After this year, maybe after half the year, it will be time.

Maroney has absolutely no excuses for not having a breakout year: Receivers to take the pressure off - check; a good OL who switched to a familiar blocking scheme for him - check; a top QB - check; great coaching - check.....he has to step up and prove it by staying healthy and hitting the hole.

The only thing I have seen from Maroney where he is better than Addai so far is speed....he is definitely faster. This is Maroney's chance to shut all of the doubters up over the course of the year (I am one based on health and deciveness at the point of attack).....I hope he does it.

First of all you are taking this as you were the only poster in this thread - If you look above you there was a poster who said Addai was just average in College and a crappy player - I don't see where I linked you as the person to solely criticize - Are you paranoid?

Maroney has to prove the can make decisions before hitting an open hole, once he does OR IF he ever does learn then he will be a good player

Bush has also looked a bit undecided at times running the ball - once of if he picks that up he will also be good

Addai lacks a bit of speed compared to the other 3 guys IMO that is the only flaw I see right now,Although he does hit the hole quickly when an opening develops and has played well and better than the others - SO FAR

Jones Drew I have not seen enough of but looks to be a very good developmental player for the Jags- He had some nice runs against the Pats last year

Yes, I realized another poster said something that would have earned that response since I replayed to them. I was the poster who used the broncos, who you also used, this made it seem like your replay was at least partly aimed at me.....

I agree with most of your thoughts although the guy I thought that might be the surprise of the Backs in the 2006 draft was Lendale White who has the power - If only he could stay away from McDonalds he will be very good maybe like a Mike Alstott player (although Alstott was a FB) IMO.

I'm kind of surprised to hear that.

Honestly some posters on other Patriots boards were fighting for Lendale prior to the draft, some trashing Maroney during the process. Frankly I never thought Lendale was going to be anything special outside of a Trojans jersey, and thought Maroney would be a much better pick....I'm glad I stuck to my guns on that one

If Lendales weight is not controlled he will be exactly that...an overweight bust
If he drops some pounds I think he can be a very good player on a team that is well coached by Fisher
If I was Fisher I would give an ultimatum to Lendale - Slim down a little or be traded
I have not read anything to say the binges have slowed down or he is a little slimmer - Probably more like a bruising FB right now - He is a RB

Yea, don't get me wrong I liked him in college, but I had some questions and wasn't to sure he'd make it in the NFL. Thinking about this whole Lendale, Maroney, Addai stuff makes me think of my arguements with Kiper....still can't believe he argued that White would be the better pick, and acted surprised when the Patriots selected Maroney after I told him they would. Kiper went almost to the point of calling it a bad pick.

Sorry, I just have some fond memories of that draft, lol!

Look Addai might have more yards and shiot only because we have capable back-ups, so we'll share the work. The Colts have jackshiit after Addai.
