What's better is that this means, according to Mayock, we got the 5th and 9th best defensive players in the draft. He also thinks Jones could be the best defensive player from this draft in a few years.

Not sure how much Id listen to Mayock.

He said Aaron Curry was a "can't miss prospect" and Robert Ayers was the "best defensive player" in his draft year.

Yes he's been right on JJ Watt and some others, but he's been VERY wrong on a lot of players too.


With that said, Hightower and Jones will be studs in our system

So where did Mayock rank Tavon Wilson? Cough cough ...

He might've missed on Ayers or Gholston, but Mayock is not responsible for what a prospect does once he enters the pros. He is responsible for projecting the potential of a player. A team can screw up that potential. Not saying that's the case in those two instances, but it's worth considering.

Whatever you want to say about Mayock, you can't deny he's pretty good at analyzing tape - and teams see the same things he sees. His top 40 was very, very accurate this year.
