The Moss trade reminds of when two of your good friends, who are married, get a divorce. Your first reaction is what a shame, can't the two of them repair the situation. Then when reconciliation is impossible and the break happens you are pressured into taking sides. The problem is that you like them both and recognize that it take two to tango and two to break up. Neither one of them was solely responsible for the break up but that's where it ends. It is possible however not to take sides and continue to be good friends.
I see the same with Moss and understand the polarization that is evident in some of the comments from team members, coaches and the media. Many have taken sides and of course their perspective is supportive of their choice and critical to the point of exaggeration of the non-selected party. I still support Bill for his decision, but I also support Randy for his, a decision made more acute by the potential of a strike year ahead. The marriage between the two has come to an end sadly, but there are new opportunities for both ahead.
I don't blame Troy and Teddy for their perspectives, and I condone Vince, Tully and Tom for their strong declaration of support for Randy. It is just like the divorced couple where some of your friends take different sides, there is nothing wrong with that, though personally I hate to lose a friend unnecessarily.
Having gone through divorce I remember the extreme discomfort of being in the wrong place with the wrong person. It is better for both that they move on. We have the memories of the good times, and I am so happy my teenage sons have witnessed one of the magic QB/WR tandems of all time.
