We are ready for injuries at OL, WR, DE and St's. I think any of these players could be called up in case of injuries.

OL: Stevenson, Yates
WR: Childress, Kight
DL: Thomas
ST: Mayes, Spann

I suspect that Smith will be added soon.

Chad Brown in to fortify LB, Le Kevin out to learn on the p.s.

Interesting that all 7 came from the Patriots' training camp (as opposed to Wesley Britt last year from SD, for instance). That's a nice sign that BB thought he had a good, deep group in camp.

Or Britt in a few weeks...

I hav no clue why everyone wants to have a squad with only three OT's.

I'd see Mruczkowski going shadow roster before they leave Britt open for Baltimore, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, NYJ.... He has shown steady improvement in his game over the preseason, I'd be trying to shield him, Kaczur can join Hochstein as the primary backstop inside.

Alrighty then . . . but don't we need a QB with only 2 on the 53?

That's right, where's Corey Bramlett? Didn't they sign him for 3 years as a UFA?

We surely do. Erik Meyer was one name that intrigued me on the waiver wire.

Not necessarily(sp?); after reviewing the PS signings of many teams, I estimate that at least 3/4 (6 out of 8) of a given team's PS is comprised of players who were with that same team throughout TC.

I would like to see added an ILB (a healthy Freddie Roach?), and another DB. Kelvin Kight can be dropped. A PS QB may not be needed, considering Matt Cassell is on the 53. A veteran backup QB would better serve our needs.

I can't argue that a veteran QB would be more valuable than a rookie, but that isn't the real equation. You have to compare the value of these three options:

Veteran QB now
vs.
Veteran QB signed off street only if injury hits
vs.
Practice squad QB + Current Player #53

Of the three, I lean toward the PS. I'm not convinced that any currently available vet castoff is worth jettisoning another player from the 53, and an emergency QB from the practice squad at least has had a chance to learn the offense and watch Brady and Cassel each week.

How about adding Meyer or LeFors at QB, and Freddie Roach (if healthy) or Kai Parham (if available) at ILB; then drop Kight. After all, Doug Flutie (or Vinnie Testaverde or Jay Fiedler) is just a local phone call away. And he already knows the playbook.

But we may now safely expect that one of the picks from next season's "double draft" will be a QB.
