A Consolidation of Moss Threads

4 wide + te with
ocho, moss on the outside
welker, branch, hernandez on the inside
would be awesome

brady in shotgun, checks deep to ocho, moss. see's if either has beaten the coverage for the deep ball. Even if they havent, the other team's two best corners and a safety are taken.
leaving one or two of welker, branch, hernadez wide open

one can dream.

even if moss has lost 2 steps, he's still good enough to take one of the top two corners with him and keep a safety playing deep and occassionally beat them plus open up space for our other guys

Make it stop. He's not coming back.

I want him to come back, even if its just because everyone (well 99 percent) of the people here say "there is no chance he comes back" and its always funny when that happens.

I would have loved for it happen after the Minnesota fiasco because that would have just been absolutely legendary.

i would be all for a moss return if he could somehow get a brain transplant. he has serious mental health issues. the second he got back here he would turn into a horses ass once again. then after being gone again he would be telling everybody how much he misses foxboro and wants back in. people just don't get the fact that the guy is nuts.

Not so sure about nuts, but I'll go with extremely sensitive.

This is Gronkastic! Another Moss thread!

Eventhough Mike Reiss, Tom E Curran, Shalize Manza Young, and many other reporters have heard from sources that the Pats have no interest in resigning Moss, it is clear that the Pats are chomping at the bit to resign him. It is all a ploy to drive down his price eventhough there is no market for him, he repeatedly stated his desire to play for the Patriots, and he isn't going to get more than a veteran minimum deal with possibly incentives.

No he's not

Interesting, mixed feelings on moss. Really want to see Price play but if he's the moss of old then it would be worth it.
If he was the Moss of old, we wouldn't have traded him, he wouldn't have sucked last year and he wouldn't be unemployed.

Nope, he's not nuts at all. He forgot he was in NE and tried to game the system like all other NFL players not in NE do. BB said "we pay straight cash only Homey" and sent him packing.

Moss finally understands that "whoa....... homey don't play that" in NE..... he'd be fine if he came back. My only worry is what does he have left in the tank.

The guy kept it together for 3 years before going nuts.

I think his issue last year was that he was realizing it was his last chance for another big payday and he was also realizing it wasn't coming here and that bothered him enough to act out and to ask to go to a team that would be willing to pay him.
From the moment the trade happenned, he had nothing but glowing things to say about BB, Kraft, the Pats so I don't think he was bitter. And it didn't sound like BB was bitter with all the glowing things he said about Moss. It sounded like a mutual agreement that there was a difference that couldn't be overcome with an agreed upon way of dealing with it (the trade).

I think he's well realized that payday isn't happenning, and if he still wants to play, he's probably willing to settle for much less -- maybe vet min, maybe a couple million.
He could probably keep it together for another year or two if his concerns of pay are really behind him.
And I'd love to see Moss get a trophy -- along with the 4th Pats trophy. 2007 -- up until the final drive, was the most enjoyable sports season I've ever watched and its too bad if Moss's career is over without the elusive trophy.

It's pretty funny to watch some of you spin this, anticipating he might come back.

I remember Pats fans all wanted Moss out last year, that Brady is at his best when he is able to spread the ball around, and run the offense effectively.

Moss and Ocho on the same team?

Sorry, he has been a cancer in every locker he's been in, and he's just not that good anymore, nevermind the plays he would take off and liability he'd be in the running game. I'd be shocked if the Pats signed him, IMO, it would be pure desperation.
So the fans of people that follow the team he played on for three years have less knowledge of his positives and negatives than fans of a team he never played for?

First off, fans of the Patriots were extremely divided on the issue, so saying 'all Pats fans wanted' something would be incorrect.

Second, a lot of opinions about Moss have been said over and over again so many times that they are almost universally accepted as fact. Problem is that most of them are opinions, not facts. I don't know that I would characterize Moss as being a 'locker room cancer' in Foxboro, and I've seen nothing about him acting up in Tennessee; he wanted a contract extension here but he never divided that locker room. The whole 'takes play off' comment that has been repeated a million times was a quote taken out of context, and though Moss did not excel in the running game he's certainly not the first NFL wide receiver that can be said of.

What is it with New Yorkers assuming that the Patriots signing a player must automatically be a 'sign of desperation'? First the Post says that about Haynesworth and Ochocinco, now you say the same thing if the Pats end up signing Moss. Of all the hundreds of transactions in the NFL the last five weeks, I don't think I've seen that term used on any other players or any other teams.

For the record, as was pointed out in the first page of this thread (but apparently ignored by many), all Brady essentially said was that Moss was a friend and he'd welcome him back if he were to ever come back. Personally I don't think it will happen unless a receiver goes on IR, in which case I would not be opposed to it. But frankly I think Moss is not as fast as he used to be and his contributions would be relatively minor.

The guy's just trolling. Don't bother getting worked up over it. His Jets will have to deal with cancers like Burress.

I don't think Moss can command a double-team any more. What he can command is coverage by a good starting CB.

So in 3+ WR sets, I think he'd have value. Those are also the sets in which he's least likely to be called upon to block.

I think he's done as a starter, at least here. But on a team whose best receiver is a natural slot guy, and whose other two top receivers are route runners more than anything else -- yeah, he could have value in multi-WR sets.

all the guy had to do was play hard and he would have gotten a decent contract. he quit in a contract year no less. did he really think leaving brady and going to another team would help his up and coming free agency. and what does he do when he gets traded. he quits yet again. if he had a brain in his head he would have just played hard and the contract would have taken care of itself. the guy has mental health issues. the sad part is he still has the physical tools to be a good reciever.

Insano's right about Moss's brain issues. As far as the majority of posters in this thread, either they have their own brain issues or they are easily distracted by shiny objects. Here's a test.

Moss has been a cancer everywhere he has been. It seems BB has the locker room back in control, we don't need that headache.

I want Hernandez in #81 anyhoo.
