A 55 burger on a Steelers D...almost 200 yards rushing... 630 yards of offense

I'm sorry to be a buzzkill but we beat the 2013 Steelers. They're last in their division and especially bad this year vs the pass. They'll likely have a top 10 draft pick in the spring. Maybe top 5. This year the Steelers suck...badly.

While it's great to go into the bye with a solid win (lightyears better than if we had lost). It's not like we beat the Steel Curtain era Steelers or even the Steelers of a few years ago.
Were we supposed to beat someone else today?

Were we supposed to beat someone else today?

LOL, we'd have to beat two teams consecutively on the same day for some posters to be satisfied. Or maybe we'd have to beat two teams at the same time?! Pats put up 55 points = moans and complaints! Sheeesh!! Spoiled much??

Entering this game they were actually 2nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.

What has changed this year is they can't stop the run anymore.

Yep, #2 pass defense and #3 total defense (moved up from #4 last week).

That defense is a fine test, and although they may not be the great defense of Steeler teams of old, I'm glad to see our offense rising to the occasion.

Wow what are you doing using FACTS? The fact that Brady put up 400 yards + and 4 TDs must be a FLUKE. After all the #2 ranked pass defense is actually one of the worst in the NFL.

Ummm NO, Tom Brady and his merry band just made em LOOK that bad!

Please don't quit your dayjob because your football analysis is found wanting.

"Consider that the Steelers had never given up 55 points or 610 yards of total offense in their 81-year-history. But on Sunday they did against a team that has -- to be kind -- been offensively challenged in 2013. No one, including quarterback Tom Brady, saw this coming against the NFL’s second-ranked passing defense (in terms of yards against). "

all seven wins are BAD and the two losses are the TRUE indicator of what the Patriots are...got it...thanx for the insight...real peachykeen

Were we supposed to beat someone else today?

I see that went straight over your head. It's not that hard of a concept.

My point was people are treating the win today like "Wow, we hung 55 points one one of the most storied defenses in the league." Well, sure the Steelers have a rich history of some incredible defensive units. But not this year. Now, if we beat the Broncos in a few weeks, even by just a little bit, then I'll be thoroughly impressed.

Some teams win a lot of games handily in the regular season, then bow out early in the playoffs.

Some teams limp into the playoffs with 9 or 10 ugly-ass wins, then are playing in the AFC Championship a few weeks later.

Whatever works.

and especially bad this year vs the pass.

Clearly you have no clue and just threw out this baseless claim.

Before today Steelers pass defense had only allowed more than 250 passing yards once all season.

125, 280, 159, 248, 201, 215, 88.

They also up until today had only allowed 5 passing touchdowns.

4 of the Steelers losses were by 10 points or less (3,7,7, & 10) and their 17 point loss to the Bears they were within 4 points with 6 minutes to go.

Also let's not forgot they've been the only team to go into metlife and hand the jets a loss so far this season.

So as long as the Pats beat the Broncos but lose to the other 15 teams on the schedule, you'll be impressed? I'm glad that the Pats play to win every game, not just to try to 'impress' one picky fan. Please stop the backtracking, it just looks bad right now.

Putting up the most points on a team in its entire franchise history IS impressive regardless. Especially when it's the Steelers. You have NO IDEA what you are talking about in regards to the Steelers defense this year. Before today's game, the Steelers had one of the stoutest defensive units in the NFL against the pass and in terms of points allowed.

"The Steelers are having their worst season in the last decade, but it’s not because of their defense. Pittsburgh has done a good job of shutting down opposing offenses, allowing 21 points or less in all but two games. They have been especially dominant against the pass, allowing 181 yards per game through the air. Only the Houston Texans give up fewer passing yards each game."

any time you hang 55 points on a professional football team, it's an impressive performance. This is moreso for many of the reasons pointed put here nd some others not (yet) mentioned.

We did get 3 turnovers, but none lead to an immediate score by the defense. Also, we put up 28 points in the 4th quarter and we were effective with both passes and runs.

Should people expect this type of effort every game, no. But, we've been waiting for an offensive performance and let us celebrate the fact that our team is starting to put it together.

This offense will be even better when Gronk, Amendola and Vereen are closer to 100%.

We think of this game as a monumental blowout. This was a close game for 3 quarters.

The defense did not look good. Obviously, we were missing Talib, Ninkovich and Gregory. Welcome to much needed Carter and Sopoaga.

Yup, clearly that poster just took the overall "Steelers are having a down year" and decided that it meant in ALL facets. It doesn't.

Didn't go over my head at all. People were discussing the game, no one said the strawman you just threw out there, and you decided the game didn't count because they should have beat someone else today to impress you.

Umm, it was a blowout, at least if you recognize that fooball games are 60 minutes, and you have play all 60.

The defense didn't look good at all. If they bring that type of game to Foxborough in three weeks, the Broncos might hang 70 on them. That said, they were missing a few key pieces: Talib, Gregory, and Ninkovich. They now have time to rest up and get healthy. Talib will be very important for the game against Denver.

Even allowing for exaggeration, even our very worst defenses have given up half that at worst Have faith young Jedi.

I can't recall a 50 burger in The BB era. What is the most a Pats D has given up since 2000?

The blowouts I recall are of the 31-0 season opener to BUF 2003 variety, not the 51-24 kind.
