http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2015/08/tom_brady_shreds_depleted_sain.html Probably linked before, but anyhow Saints reporter brags of how well the Saints OL handled the Patriots' pass rush, in 1-on-1s and 11-on-11s alike. Since Ken tells us that the defense should be winning such contests, that's not encouraging from our standpoint ...

That's probably mostly because our starting guards (Jahri Evans and Tim Lelito) have been taking a lot of heat for their 1-on-1 performance in camp. The beat writers seem to be having a back-and-forth amongst themselves whether Evans is washed up - so every little good thing he does is OMG JAHRI IS EPIC by the one side and every little bad thing he does is OMG JAHRI IS WASHED UP by the other. It's super obnoxious.

I will say though that Armstead is turning into one of the league's elite left tackles, Strief has been one of the better right tackles for years, and Unger is billed to be an elite center. If the guards play well, it checks out as one of the very best o-lines around, so from a Patriots perspective, I wouldn't worry too much if they get the upper hand every once in a while.

Why didn't Jimmy G. get reps today?

Because he's playing the majority of the game tomorrow night, whereas Tom is not.

It only makes sense to give Tom the snaps in practice and Jimmy the snaps in the game. Why give one all and the other nothing, or at least close to it if JG split snaps in practice?

You'd think BB would want them both to get action.

This isn't the best company

Garoppolo threw 30+ passes and averaged fewer than 5.4 yards-per-pass vs GB. Only QBs to do that in 2014 regular season? Manziel & Vick.

Justis Mosqueda

I'm sure this just comes from having almost no offensive starters to catch his passes or block for him as well as the Josh Boyce effect. Hopefully we'll see an improvement tomorrow.

Jeff Howe?@jeffphowe
Randy Moss is here at practice in Patriots gear.

HOLY ****!
He has regretted being a dumbass and getting jettisoned ever since it happened. He took things for granted. It's his own fault, but I still love the dude. Imagine if maybe he's on the team in that '11 SB . . . with a healthy Gronk. There is no way we lose that game.

I loved Randy from start to finish in the NFL. I always said that if he had a better work ethic, he would have crushed every receiving record in existence. He was a freak, like his nickname, and that may have actually been a detriment to him because he never went full throttle for a whole practice, game or season. He really did take plays off, especially when he did not think the ball was coming his way and he was not a good blocker. That matters to me. Nonetheless, I love the dude.

And if Moss had made a better effort to high-point Brady's bomb at the end of that cursed SB,
they would've been in FG range.
