This will be the strongest group out of the whole 27 draft class. And when you consider how top heavy and deep it is. This could be one of the best classes in the last few decades. I could see that be brought up next year for sure. I could see 6-8 WRS taken in round 1 depending on how things shape up. Unless a bunch of guys drop off you'll have an automatic 5-7 walking into the draft. That said 27 is much better at premium positions like QB, CB, DL etc. We'll see what happens but this class is absolutely loaded.
For those that dont know .... once I get prospects in a tier I dont care how they're "ranked" or which name is first. I'm just getting them into the right neighborhood before putting them in a specific house. As usual I'll adjust as we get closer to the draft but don't worry about "who's above who" right now only the tiers they're in matter.
Smith stands alone but I wouldnt be surprised to see someone from the "1B" or "1C" tier to get a lot closer as the draft approaches. Unless a QB has an outstanding year I expect Smith to go #1. It's a very good QB class but unless someone really separates themselves from their pack. QB could be as deep as any so again unless Arch, TC, Moore etc really pull away it'll be very hard to not take Smith.
Texas is the most interesting team in the country imo with the addition of Coleman to an already very good wr corp and talented team overall. A lot of people think Coleman will make this a "Julio/AJ" type thing and that could be the case. Thats a reasonable scenario but Coleman has a lot of the wr position to learn. He's an athletic freak but most of his production comes from contested catches. Contorting one handers, 360 windmill dunks on the bball court, out-muscling smaller dbs. Hes a walking highlight but really lacks nuance when it comes to the smaller things. Hes playing in a much better, more structured offense thats up to date. With better players around him including, obviously QB. So I expect him to have a big year and be a top 10-12 pick. Texas could have 3 top 10 picks, 4 top 20 and 5 top 40 guys when its said and done.
Duff is another guy that will command a lot of attention during draft process with another step forward in his game. Former hs te coming in around 6'5/220. One of the best in the country when it comes to explosive plays (16+ rec yards), ypc (18.1) and contested catches and is 6'5/220. A real 6'5/220 too not the school bumping #'s up. He moves lighter than he is though and is pretty fluid for that size. Hes not dragging any weight along. He moves like someone who is 205-210 not 6'5/220. This is evident watching him at the los. Hes not twitched by any means up but hes pretty smooth, has some power and uses efficient footwork off the line. Keeps it simple with hesi/stutters combined with a swipe or swim. His size and athleticism when committed are enough no need to complicate. He's not a bad rr at this point by any means for where he is in his development.
