PostGame Thread 2026 Official Postgame Thread: Patriots close out preseason w/37-13 loss to the Browns

Immediate Postgame Reactions
Game 1 could be Larison but he could also get hurt. Jam is a different player but could be just as productive in different ways. I think injuries will dictate who will have the most carries / yards in 2026.
I think Jam is the most likely early down guy if Rham gets hurt, or heaven forbid puts the ball on the ground. Trey won't, and shouldn't be overloaded.
I think Rham is in for a big year, despite many people in the football world clamouring for Trey.
Rham is an excellent all around back.

Jam or Haskins

C (2) Jared Wilson, Ben Brown
G (3) Mike Onwenu, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Greg Van Roten
T (5) Will Campbell, Morgan Moses, Caleb Lomu, Dametrious Crownover, James Hudson III
ED (4) Dre’Mont Jones, Gabe Jacas, Elijah Ponder, Bradyn Swinson

SS (3) Dell Pettus, Jaylen Reed, Mike Brown
FS (2) Kevin Byard, Craig Woodson
ST (3) Andy Borregales, Julian Ashby, Matt Haack

Total Players: 51

IR/PUP/NFI - Marcus Bryant - DFR, Baringer - DFR, Schooler - Landry (PUP), Schooler - NFI

PS - Morton - QB, Miller - RB, Haskins - RB, Dixon - WR, Butler - OG, Westover - TE, (Crowner eventually may get cut once Bryant is back and head here if they decide to keep Hudson), Luketa - Edge, Hutchins - Edge, Gainer -Edge, Taylor - DT, Jacobs - LB, Canada - CB, Saunders - S

Thoughts - Gregory or/and Taylor is close. I think they pick one. As for the lack of edge... They may just go light here till they get Landry back then move someone down, though if someone shakes loose they will not hesitate. I also see them looking for a run stopping DT and LB off waivers. As for CB.. Woods even though he played okay last year has been bad all preseason. He is out. Vildor sucked last game but he has a long career track record and was good the first 2 games. Also yes, I have Hudson making it for now with Bryant out. Him inside was an utter failure, but when he briefly played outside we saw what he can do. If his place here (which it may be in the future once Bryant comes back) is based on him able to be spot flexible he is gone. For now his value as an OT is enough.

Hardest cuts which may not make the PS are Brown - Safety. Luketa was tough too. But i just think Swinson is better right now. But could be wrong.

I have virtually the same.

1) Westover for Arkin.
2) Ben Brown on IR for 10 OL. Gregory as the add on
3) Pettus over Mike Brown
I've got 53 so Hutchins (I think he sneaks on) and Jacobs.
Bryant/ Ben Brown preseason IR don't count on the 53.

Nice to see priority FA WR Kyle Dixon show his stuff. He started slow but picked things up in the end. Dixon - DeG and Dorner will be Three nice pieces on our PS. Players who initially learned our system.

Why do you fall for this kind of stuff every year it seems? Were you a passenger on the Bam Childress Express , too?

“Never laugh at anyone’s dreams. Those that don’t have dreams don’t have much.”

We’re pretty well stocked at the WR position finally, but forever we’ve had to hope that late round or undrafted WRs will turn in to David Givens or at least a serviceable body. Eventually one of these guys is going to hit. Haha. The guys he listed have nice traits. Hopefully one of them is the one that finally fulfills the wishes of patriots nation, my friend.

Hudson was moved to guard because they have only 4 interior people for 3 positions.

If there are a couple of gameday injuries who have they prepared as a 5th interior backup?

I can't think of anyone.

That's because there is no one else. But it still wouldn't shock me if they don't do anything about it, especially if they believe that Brown will miss Opening Night only but be available for the home debut vs ****tsdirt 11 days later.
