Oh make no mistake , I don’t think unfettered Wolfe was good at drafting at all. But another poster pointed out they were using Bill’s system in 2024 which was fair.We get it, eveything Wolf did poorly in 2024 was Bill’s system…. except the one thing that went right in Drake Maye. Sounds legit.
For the record I’m long past Bill being here, I forgot about him and Brady the moment they were gone… I root for the laundry, but then I’m not here blaming the 2024 dumpster fire on him either.
That’s my point. Wolfe likely ran the show that year because Mayo was clueless. Vrabel comes in, sets vision of players they want, drafts improve
Baloney, there was no “system,” and Wolf had been there since 2021 taking players who fit a West Coast system.Oh make no mistake , I don’t think unfettered Wolfe was good at drafting at all. But another poster pointed out they were using Bill’s system in 2024 which was fair.
Wrong, the BB haters said Wolf sucked because he held to Bill’s system, but also said Bill wouldn’t draft Drake because he was the only good draft pick in the Pats entire 2024 class. That’s cherry picking because they have a grudge.Pretty sure Bill said somewhere he wouldn’t have drafted Drake.
Mayo was a tourist along for the ride.Technically we should credit Mayo with Drake…but we also have to credit him for the rest of that legendary draft.
Agreed.Vrabel directing Wolfe seems to be going well.
All Pats fans should be.I’m happy.
It has only been 1 year and BB was working mostly with guys from the prior coaching staff. A turnaround is usually 3 years?Dear Lord. Imagine a world where Bill stayed, traded back, and took a random guard at #14 or something because “I can find a QB in the 5th”. Personnel side of the game passed him by years ago. Look at UNC right now. Disaster.

There’s also no system that says take a 5th or 6th round graded WR in the 2nd or reach for a late round pick OT in the 3rd. It’s total nonsense.

BB called Drake “a freak athlete” prior to the draft and all sorts of other superlatives, he also was critical of his errors. Funny enough this is exactly what he did with all the rookie QB’s that year for ESPN, it’s what they hired him for.

Bill relied on personnel guys and was only as good as they were. Both of the following statements are True:
Bill sucks at drafting.
Eliot also sucks at drafting.
At some point something has to give.Really hope T Henderson is a poor man's Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Floodgates are open... Gonzo then Maye are going to set some bars. They're going be eating up most of Our Cap: we better start hitting on Draft Picks Early and Often to keep up.At some point something has to give.
They can’t keep paying salaries like this.
I endured in my youth when the Pats were one of the worst sports franchises in all of professional sports, not just the NFL, and I ultimately was richly rewarded. The Floodgates are open... Gonzo then Maye are going set the bars.
The way the NFL is set up nowadays you can buy a Championship. See LA Rams not many moons ago.I endured in my youth when the Pats were one of the worst sports franchises in all of professional sports, not just the NFL, and I ultimately was richly rewarded.
Now, if the Pats were a sad sack I could easily walk away, and the out of control salaries are one reason.
